“Does everybody hate SW2010” Certainly not at our place, We upgraded from 2009 SP4 to 2010 SP2.1 four weeks ago and so far it has proved very popular. (6 seats)
Still haven’t used all the new stuff yet.
I agree with CBL SW2010 is what SW2009 should have been.
Saves seem to be quicker in...
When I select/highlight a component from my eDrawing feature tree it turns that colour green.
I can’t see the eDrawing feature tree from your jpg file so just wondering if the part was unintentionally selected/highlighted in your eDrawing.

uGlay………Have you tried using the BOM table in Solidworks? Have you submitted samples to the mgmt?
We generate our BOM’s using this table and get excellent results and have tailored ours to look almost identical to our old style ACAD table.
The table is very editable e.g. realign vertical...
Try opening an assembly file using the pull down menu i.e. File/open (uncheck the lightweight box) instead of the folder icon to open. I had this problem in SW2008 and cured it by saving the assembly and closing down SW to get it to stick.

From my experience using 2D AutoCAD when users generate BOMS they are prone to drafting errors i.e. wrong qty’s, wrong balloon references etc. Time taken working out part quantities, typing part numbers and descriptions becomes slow, inefficient and tedious. When subsequent changes take place...
To rotate a part or assembly another method is to use your up/down/left/right arrow keys on the keyboard. (or invest in a Logitech 3D connexion space pilot 3D motion controller)
In an assembly you have icons that rotate, move & zoom. Such basics are in the help files.

The option is still there in 2008.
Re-select the ordinate dim (LMB or RMB) the dim properties appears on left of screen with tabs at top Value>Leader>Other.
Click Leader tab and you will see the option to uncheck the box against ordinate chain.

OR…………You could rotate the model using the arrow keys set to a pre-determined amount.
Go to Tools/Options/Systems Option/View Rotation and set the arrow key degrees box to what ever you want.

I also use MM’s method except for text (or symbols) where I use split face or the wrap tool. The sketches are drawn on a new front plane just a short distance above the button height and then projected on to the button surface.
The result is the image follows the raised contour of the button...
Nicholas just a thought......I see you’re on SW2007. Have you considered using the Pack & Go feature (it’s new to 2007) to save the files to a different location?

Inventor user (March 07)……….
“there is a problem for open IGES files. I couldn't open a IGES file from Inventor, but could open it from Solidworks.
Could someone tell me: it is a setting problem or something from software inside?”
Typical Autodesk response…….
”You could try opening the...

I’m sure your right. It was just after our IT dept had upgraded the software that I had a problem. On reflection the SLDDRT files may well have been lost as a result of the upgrade. I must have failed to save/store them to temporary directory before upgrading.

Chris with ref to your question 2………
I have found when adding more sheets in a multi sheet format (sheet2, sheet3, sheet4 etc) to sheet1 I need a duplicate set of templates. One set saved with a file extension of .drwdot and a second set with a file extension of .slddrt
e.g. A4.drwdot...
Adrian……You fail to mention Isometric views. These can be dimensioned easily in SW but in Inventor I believe you have to cheat and use the same work around that you used in ACAD - place an aligned dimension and manually override the value.
Eddy
Thanks Scott but we don’t have Photoworks. We’ve just been upgraded to SW2007 so gonna experiment and see if that copes better otherwise we will have to extrude or use the wrap tool.
