    Circuit wire size

A family member is (in my opinion) about to make a mess at minimum and a disaster possibly. In an attempt to use wiring that is already in place to create a mobile home 50 amp 4 pole RV connection. He plans to use a series of different types and sizes of wire by splicing together conductors that...

device to log time of input

I need a device that would allow me to log the time a momentary switch is pushed. I could not even think of what to search for to find it. I have a need to connect a device to a momentary push button that sends a 110 signal. The device needs to log the current time. I need to later retrieve the...

I have three phase motor wired high

Thank you all so much. Sorry for wrong forum post. I was just curious that it ran a while before it malfunctioned and what facicaly tapped inside that allowed it to run slow but not fast. Obviously it was about the same if as it must have been when Jimmy Carter had that famous conversation...

I have three phase motor wired high

My question is what happened to the motor wired incorrectly and run at low speed that caused it to give overcurrent alarm when run at high speed. At the same time, a second motor wired the same ,that day, did not show over current. ram fine. I understand this was big screw up. But my curiosity...

I have three phase motor wired high

Fyi, reason tech wired incorrectly was replacements came in 230/400. Original was 116/230 so high voltage was correct. I had never seen these motors before am told machine and parts from Germany and 116 three phase is common l.

I have three phase motor wired high

I have three phase motor wired high voltage. (400v). Drive programmed 230. Has run 24/7 times six weeks at 60 percent MAX speed. Found problem when new product setup required much faster speed. A second motor, changed yesterday and incorrectly wired the same way gave no problem. What happened...

Can servo motor sent for repair be wired incorrectly and run backwards

Found a used motor. Connected and powered up. Ran as expected. Something must be crossed in the repaired servo motor.

covert to AWG -----5.5 mm2 (105/26ac) tray wire

I apologize for ignoring your reply. I really appreciate your input. I had found that particular chart. The problem was the rest of the identification. This is for the leads of a large motor that runs on a CNC router. It runs in a cable tray and has much movement. Regular eso of the same...

covert to AWG -----5.5 mm2 (105/26ac) tray wire

Can someone tell me what wire size to buy wire label is as above. Called Hagemeyer our distributor and he could not convert. From internet I think; 5.5 would be tween 9 and 10 AWG 105 is number of strands 0.26 is diameter of each strand. If I use regular 10 awg wire the movement quickly breaks...

help me understand these symbols please.

thank you, and yes, I tried. It was Saturday and no one would be available until noon my time today(Monday). I just through it out here hoping someone would recognize the symbol. 230 single phase A\C running on 460 3 phase circuit- OK?

thanks to all of you for this information. Mr. mcgyvr Perhaps my desire to learn a bit more about the subject was an abuse of the system and in some way inconvenienced you or others. For this I offer an apology. Or perhaps you missed the entry where I stated I had already turned this project...

230 single phase A\C running on 460 3 phase circuit- OK?

waross, Thank you for your response. Please explain a little more. From four wire delta system i can get 240. but with another system I would get 277 with one phase a neutral. So I just meter it and if it is 240, I can connect it to the unit 1 phase and a neutral where I would normally connect...

230 single phase A\C running on 460 3 phase circuit- OK?

thank you John2025 and DRWeig. I should have said neutral and not ground, my big mistake, also can not wait to hear more reasons not to do this. The fact that I do not understand how 1 hot and neutral works the same as two hots shows my limited knowledge of electricity, and I actually until now...

230 single phase A\C running on 460 3 phase circuit- OK?

Is there any reason I should not use 1 leg of the 460 three phase circuit and ground to run a single phase 220 Air condition unit. Employees at the School maintenance report they do this all the time. If this is true then I connect nothing to the ground on the unit or the same ground I am using...
