I have small piece of industrial type equipment with DC drives, heaters, dc power supply, PLC and servo drive. The motor and heaters all run in cyclic mode. When I calculate my protection current the total load is almost 30 amps of 230vac. When I place a clamp on amp meter and monitor the peak...
If you are considering Canada also you may want to check into CSA certification. Both CSA and UL have US and Canadian dual certifications. I had a product that was onsite inspected by CSA. I was informed that I could have had the product sent to them for certification. They informed me they...
Autodesk makes an add-on package for AutoCad. I am currently looking for the same type of software. I have yet to get in touch with an AutoCad vendor. I also know that ECT has a product called Promis-E that can run in Autocad or you can get stand-alone version.
Scratch my thought on the split 120v secondary, I realized that was incorrect. 3 KVA is 3KVA no matter how I split the amps. So I still have the question on non-continous load rating on the transformer?
I have an application with 208 to 120 transformer single phase needed. I have 4 amps continous load, 2x 8.5 amp non-continous heater load and 7 amp non-continous heater load. The total amp draw is 28 amps. The non-continous is on for no more than 1 minute at start-up, the rest of the time it is...
I am currently upgrading my older wonderware factorysuite 7.5 to newer 9.0. It has only taken me a week on and off. I use GE PLCs and I had to download the drivers from the Internet because the GE drivers on the disk were corrupt. I found this out because the support techs knew this. I have no...
plcintegrator,
This is a little late, however I find it interesting that the products that you recommend to use are also listed on your company's line card. I was looking for a alternative to these exact products. For many of my applications these are over kill.
I am both. I am an Electronics Tech at plastic extrusion plant. However I was helping a small system integrator for four years trying to grow his company, until I had to return to plant maintenance. I still do part time programming for a custom machine builder. This machine builder uses alot of...
I have only been doing machine control for about five years. I have ten years of control experience. When I write a program I like the nomenclature to match the physical state of the part. In your case, if the pin is protruding out, I consider this extended. I like this because any operator or...
One benefit with the AB PLC is that there should be a local distributor in your area. Each distributor normally staffs an engineer/technician that assists end users with application and software issues. You may want to check on this, it could be a local resource.
We have a separate cooling blower. I do not believe the motor was getting hot at standstill. It did smell burnt. We currently have the motor removed from the drive for repair when it is returned. I will check the field voltage in the stopped mode. I think I will also bring in a drive tech. to...
I have a 250 HP dc motor that seems to slowly short the shunt field. The motor is a shunt, series motor. The shunt field had similar problem two years ago. I am looking at application speed. I was also considering if there is something in the Drive that could be out of adjustment and slowly...
automation99,
With the Devicenet module both PLCs can run their own logic. You can map I/O tables and registers directly to each other. Example a word of Q outputs would be mapped to the Input image table in the AB.The same would be true for data registers. The delay would be Scan time plus...
With the Devicenet module from Horner is installed in the GE rack. I had only about 3-4 rungs of logic in the AB. They were mostly for communication housekeeping. From the GE side I do not remember that I had any logic to support the horner module. With the Compactlogix do you have to buy a...
I had a project were I put a devicenet module (Horner APG) into a 90-30 rack and passed information between a 90-30 and a SLC500. Thus worked very well. There is some memory mapping and I had more problems from the A-B than setting up the Horner module.
I do not know anything about DCS systems, however coming from PLC background, does DCS system have ability to do remote stations? For upfront engineering setup remote stations then network back to main controls. Once again I have never worked with DCS, so this is part question part suggestive...
mfpd,
Thanks, I have a ceiling that has 24" steel joists. There is conduit and material (plastic pellet) convey piping running between the structure. Would this mean the sprinkler deflectors can be 6" below the joists?
In a manufacturing facilty is there a reference for clearance of sprinkler head from ceiling? Is there a min or max distance from ceiling? The facility produces plastic piping
