Corrosion of Aluminium fittings in Seawater

Has anyone got any experience of corrosion of Aluminium fittings in Seawater? I know that Aluminium is used in anodes, so would expect a sacrificial "reduction" over a period of time. The specific case is with Aluminium "ferrules" which terminate the end of wire ropes. The wire rope will be...

Corrosion rates of ASTM A106 Gr B in Seawater

I have an uncoated pipe immersed in Seawater (Mediterranean Sea), 60m Water Depth. I have estimated the rate of corrosion to be .2 - .4 mm per year. Has anyone had experience of pipe in similar conditions. Can you confirm these rates or otherwise.

    oblique text in acad 2000

You need to define the text "style" where you can provide an angle for obliquing. The command may be STYLE or TXTSTYLE, I cannot remember. This is different from rotation when using TXT command. It may be that the FONT chosen cannot be obliqued, in which case use a simpler one or...

How to Draw a Perpendicular Line to the end of another line

Draw the line using "perp" osnap, this will draw the line perpendicular to the one you choose. Then use move "end" point of new line at intersection to "end" point of original line. Unless I am missing something?

Does Anyone Know How to bring a TIF into ACAD LT?

Have you tried to copy and paste using copy from photoshop or similar and then pasting into AutoCAD? The only thing is it will go in without any scale and this will need to be scaled up. The other option is to Insert the Tiff as a "picture" (similar to WORD). You will need to make...

    Ball valve body cavity corrosion

Thanks for the prompt response. To clarify: The valves are remote and are only accessible by a costly intervention process. They cannot be drained. Open means "opening" the valve not disassembly.

    Ball valve body cavity corrosion

I have an application where seawater may become trapped in the valve body cavity. The pipeline will be vacuum dryed and we want to avoid opening the valve to remove any trapped seawater. Has anyone had experience of this type of application and/or problems with this type of corrosion. A link...

    Chloride Concentration on Pitting Resistance

Thanks for the prompt response The temperature will be between 5 and 15 deg C. The pipe is welded but has been coated. The surface should be in good condition. This will be the worst case. Can you provide a link or reference to the research.

    Chloride Concentration on Pitting Resistance

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience or can provide guidelines on an acceptable level of chloride. I have an application where a "super duplex" pipe (25Cr) with a pitting resistance number > 40 is exposed to seawater (not flowing) . The concentration of NaCl can be...
