I don't mean to sound ignorant, but why are you taking a model and then breaking it into several other models. It would make more sense to me (if I understand your question correctly) to start with several parts and then create the final model (assembly).
If you want to maintain associatively...
If you are only using the images for presentations then I would suggest screen snap shots (Alt+ Print Screen/SysRq). I am not very fond of the .jpg quality delivered by Pro/E export.
Tip: change the model background to white before taking the screen snapshot, so that when the image is pasted...
I beg to differ... I too work with Intralink and I know exactly what both of you are saying. Intralink does not rename the file on disk. The Oracle files keep track of the name.
(Pro/INTRALINK 2.0 - 3.2)
If you create an object in your Workspace the same name is used for the file on disk. If...
Tip: I understand that you do not place previous rev. ballons on your drawings, but watch out when you change the parameter value for revision in the model. You will have balloons left over from the previous version drawing and they will update. Now you will have balloons on the drawing where...
Tip: If you do not have a top level assembly then create one and just package the components. It is not important how the components are placed in the assembly, but that they exist in the model tree. Then you can follow the steps outlined by Hayden to copy and paste params to all components.
I was able to find my config.pro file, here it is...
keyword: auto_regen_views
value: no
Just remember that any changes will not been seen until you regenerate view or sheets.
That depends... if the failed feature is your pattern then you can select Redefine from the failed feature menu. Then you should be able to edit the pattern feature by defining one or more of the pattern options (dialog box).
If you have overlapping geometry in your pattern you will have to use...
You can edit the Mapkey codes in any text editor. Open your .pro file and edit using Wordpad or Notepad.
Create simple mapkeys using the mapkey interface in Pro/E. Write the mapkey to a file and try to make sense of the commands used. Mapkeys that are executed without screen picks or dbmenu...
Answer to the second question --> same as noppenbd. The View's layer overrides the drawing's layer setting.
This is the main reason why I will avoid using View layer settings at all costs. They can waste your time when trying to figure out the layer settings of a drawing.
I have helped many...
There is an option for this, but it too can cause problems if used by persons that are used to regeneration of the drawing after changes. I do not have my config.pro file handy or I would tell you the keyword.
If you are using Pro/E 2000i or i2 go to a blank line in your config.pro file (you...
I know of your problem.. I had a similar problem. Ghost objects are not handled well with Pro/E 2000i2 and Intralink 3.0 or 3.1.
My suggestion to you is to get off both versions... switch to Pro/E 2001 and Intralink 3.2 They are tools in Intralink 3.2 that probably (you never know until you...
Go with vnpro's instructions... this is exactly what I have done in the past and it works without any hangups.
-Definitely work outside Intralink... You can do the same within Intralink, but one problem exists with Intralink in that it recognizes that the previous part for the drawing was an...
You don't have to trace the logo if you can type the logo in a graphics program (i.e. Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator) and then export file as DXF.
Then import to ACAD and do as you like.
Like Hora said... make sure that it is a drawing! In the part or assembly rotate until the model is in the desired position and then create a saved view (i.e. temp). Now create a quick drawing using the model and place a view at the desired scale using the saved view. Now print using what...
You have the answer to your first question... now an attempt on your 2nd question.
How do you want to show the instance on the drawing? If you need the name of the instance you can use the system parameter with an ampersand in front to list the name of the model (i.e. model name is...
I have seen people rotate parts to position in an assembly, but I do not agree that is the way to go.
Why are you not using a dimension or other reference? You will find out sooner or later that rotating components into position will not always keep them in that position over the life of the...
Not to be sarcastic or anything, but why would anyone need an undo command in Pro/E. The software is nothing like AutoCAD where you create something and want to change it completely you have to either delete it and start again or rotate, trim, or UNDO.
Pro/E has dimensions and attributes for...
I checked with the PTC site knowledge base and they do not show any system parameters that would display the path of the file.

The more I think about your question the more I realize that it probably does not make sense for...
procadman2,
The revolved protrusion is not always the first protrusion of the part. If I remember correctly I normally have difficulty with the revolved cut feature.
Again, it is not a major concern because I realize immediately that I do not have an axis for the feature and I simply create...
By default Intent Manager is on when sketching. Use the config.pro option sketcher_intent_manager set to no if you want to start the sketcher without Intent Manager turned on.
For those users who are more familiar with the old sketcher-Intent Manager can be overwhelming. You have to change the...
