Group,
I'm currently modeling a fluid storage tank that is under a pressure load. I'm having difficulties getting the applied pressure loads to be applied in the same direction for all of the surfaces. Some of the surfaces have the load vector pointing inwards on the tank and others are point...
Thanks for the great advice mcgyvr. I wish I was a smarter person to figure out how to re-install windows and my CAD software. Which slot does the DVD go in? One step at a time, I just learned how to turn on the mouse.
I updated to Windows 8.1 a few weeks ago. I went to use my Inventor the other day and I get an application error on launch (error 0xc0000142). Anyone else having the same issue? AutoCAD still functions properly.
Can someone recommend this program for an online Masters program in Aerospace. I'm looking at the Aerospace Structures core program. Also, if you have experience with another online program please list that one here as well.
Thank you.
A legend in the Gyro and experimental world. I took a couple of his courses and really enjoyed them. You can't beat where he lived (Monterey, CA). God Speed, Martin.
Thanks rb1957 and SparWeb for the info. It helps out a lot. I have all of those references and I'm looking through them for an appropriate substantiation. The sensor does not extend past the OML of the fuselage, so I can't see any aerodynamic loading affects. The sensor will also have no...
Not pressurized.
No antenna.
It is Part 25
It is a small opening for a sensor that will not be extending into the airstream. No loads are transmitted from the sensor to the opening. I "just" need to show that my opening and the external doubler I'm putting around the opening returns the...
I need some assistance on where I could find an analysis method for cutouts in a fuselage. I need to add a small opening in the side of an Aluminum semi-monocoque fuselage. I'm not cutting any frames or stringers, just the fuselage skin boxed within the frames and stringers. I don't have any...
I'm getting back into the FEM world with a simple structural analysis undergoing acceleration loads. I thought the acceleration units were in inches/sec/sec (32.2"/sec/sec = 1g). However, when I apply the acceleration loads to the model, the freebody resultant loads are a factor of 12 greater...
Is this company willing to fund testing for validation. There are plenty of resources that will test the product that can be used for validating the FEA and the other performed analysis.
Condition: I have a 7075-T6 part that has been shot peened. However, a local surface feature of the part needs to have .050" of material removed for assembly fit.
I don't know the shot peen process (i.e. type, intensity, etc.) of the current part needing the dimensional work.
My question is...
My question is concerning the method of calculating rivet bearing loads on the parent material for a countersunk rivet. First off, is it usually calculated or does the countersink make it not as critical as shear load? How is the contact area calculated for a machined, dimple, or double dimple...
I'm not a user of CATIA, but I'm requiring another company to supply me with an IGES output of a model that they developed for the purpose of CFD analysis. Is is possible for CATIA (all versions) to format the conditions of an IGES output so that the output is of NURBS curves (entity 126) and...
Just another quick plug for a useful product. www.sacskyranch.com sells a CD with a lot of useful info in an interactive window format. The CD is called the Mechanic's Toolbox and was developed for the aircraft mechanic in mind, but it does come in handy for engineering design.
The panels are suppose to be flat. The curvature is towards the chem milled pockets. I don't know if it was stress relieved as raw material (I don't think so, it is 7075-T6 bare Aluminum, AMS-QQ-A-250/12). I don't think it was stress relieved during its manufacturing (cutting to outer...
I'm working for a small company and we just had some skin panels chemically milled and they came back deformed (6" deflection over about 43" span). They were .12" thk 7075-T6 flat panels originally that were milled to .050" thk in large pocket regions on only one side for weight reduction...
I just received back a flat panel from our chemical milling facility and it is warped. The panel is 7075-T6 .080" thick aluminum alloy and measures 46"x24" roughly. The panel deflects almost 6" mid-span of the 46" length. The bow is in the direction of the chemical milled side. The chemical...
Is there online or CD/DVD video training on using NEiNastran Modeler and FEMAP? Schedule never seems to work out for classes taught down in Westminster.
Is there plug-in features for the Autodesk Inventor series just like SolidWorks?
