    Neck finish specifications

Sorry for the double post - maybe this is the better place to ask the question: Does anyone know where the closure thread finish specifications are maintained these days? It used to be the SPI. Then it was the CMA. Now I believe the CMA rolled over into the CCMA, but they don't have the closure...

    Modeling From Photo

Question - how exactly does CATIA "use a digital photograph and create a surfaces/solid model from this". Can you snap or link curves to the picture? I think pro/Concept was able to do this but not fully certain. ISDX could use this type of functionality. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~...

Helical Sweep Feature with Variable Section

    > Replacing [ * trajpar ] with [ * tan(trajpar * 45) ] alters the rate of change I see... I should have dug out my old trig charts. I'll never fault anyone for playing around on pro/e ever again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the...

Helical Sweep Feature with Variable Section

Jeff, Wow. Thats pretty awesome. Can you explain the relations a little bit more. Specifically, is the use of tan of trapar * 45 just giving you the same thing as trajpar - progression from 0 to 1? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the...

Tired of high price of energy?

Common sense has struck back and may just beat the deadline. http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7011805480 Somebody told me that it would take 5 years from test well to 100K bpd in the Carolina basin

Tired of high price of energy?

http://www.geotimes.org/mar07/article.html?id=feature_gulfofmexico.html "In 2001, Shell, Amoco, Texaco (now part of Chevron) and ExxonMobil drilled the exploratory BAHA 2 well in 2,375 meters of water in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico, in a region known as the Perdido Fold Belt."...

Tired of high price of energy?

I think you are confused. Let me provide more detail. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-6566 HR 6566: To bring down energy prices by increasing safe, domestic production, encouraging the development of alternative and renewable energy, and promoting conservation. Lifting...

Why has the Automotive Industry avoiding Pro/E as a design tool?

Maybe the correct question posed should have been why has the automotive industry avoided using Pro/E for automotive interiors. I've heard a lot about how Pro/E doesn't work well with Alias (so I guess that means that its really Alias that rules the roost in automotive design). I can't speak...

    wildfire 2.0

Make sure you get training beacause a lot has changed from 2001. Also, system requirements are greater for Wildfire, i.e. more RAM needed, more powerful graphics card, etc. Having said that, WF 2.0, if you're able to manage the change, makes Pro/E better than ever.

    Displaying Pro/E Assembly on Web

Pro/WEB PUBLISH allows you to export models in a format such as HTML of VRML that can be viewed from a web browser. Unfortunately, all you can do is view them as they aren't parametric. Is it possible to have family table information in an Excel spreadsheet on a Web page that can then be...

    Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand

This subject brings to mind one of the greatest books of the last century, Gravity's Rainbow by Pynchon. Or one of the worst books of the last century depending on who you ask. Amazingly technical, complex, and inaccessable, I'm not sure I can recommend it because its also obscene. If you're...

creating datum planes on th fly

In previous releases, Pro/E isn't able to make a group containing groups. Is this the same case with the Auto-groups in Wildfire? If so, any feature created with the new datum-on-the-fly method can't be grouped.

creating datum planes on th fly

Not exactly the same functionality as before. I've found groups are cumbersome to work with and don't know why PTC needlessly complicated this functionality. Hopefully, we'll see the old method return in later releases.

creating datum planes on th fly

Don't get too attached to the datums-on-the-fly. Unfortunately, this function has been removed from Wildfire.

    Standards and Practices

Several years ago when I first learned Pro/E, I was taught not to use Datums on the Fly because it buried design intent and was thus bad for standardization. Has anyone else heard of this and does anyone else adhere to this practice? I know on Wildfire, this function has changed (for the better?)

    Spekan Purge Utility

I was directed to a tutorial that explains how to set up the purge utility in the right click drop-down menu for file folders. It instructed to create this batch file: set path=d:\proe2001_2002430\bin\;%path% cd /d "%1" start /B purge.bat Then, in Windows Explorer, View\Options...

    Spekan Purge Utility

Thanks Hora, What I'm try to do is purge files in Windows Explorer. I want to set up the file folder in Window Explorers so I can right click on the folder and see the purge command in the drop down list. I think this is done from View/Options gray dialog box under File Types tab.

Has anyone used Spekan Purge Utility? How do you set up Windows so you can right click on file folder and purge?
