    Returning to the Moon...

A permanent base on the moon, a very expensive notion & one of questionable motive analogous of Artic stations which cost millions a year to colonise yet the return is truly negligible. We have already been to the moon & I'm not sure there is a whole lot to learn or gain. As a footstep to Mars...

Centrifugal Habitation on Earth, as it is in Space.

Damn, I guess that means where stuck for a little while longer !!

Centrifugal Habitation on Earth, as it is in Space.

Got me thinking again, if we never realise warped space worm hole travel etc & have to rely on good old acceleration. I did the math once albiet in my head very roughly that it takes more than a year at 1G to accelerate to close to light speed & then you have to slow down at 1G for another year...

Centrifugal Habitation on Earth, as it is in Space.

Muklin, Haven't you been to local fair lately ? If the habitat module is suspended vertically from a balanced beam as it spins up it will angle outward in proportion to the centrifugal & gravitational force. So the floor will seem to the occupant always level. If you enter from the base axial...

Centrifugal Habitation on Earth, as it is in Space.

I was reading an earlier post here by Boothby which got me thinking if you were to construct a large centrifugal habitat on Earth there would some very practical things to be gained from it. I'm talking enough space for 100 comfortable Centrinauts at least. For your 100 million you get. 1. A...

    sugar equals engine death?

Leads to an interesting question. Sugar is basically carbon so if you dissolve it in say acetone would it make a good fuel ?? Dave

Thrust from a compressed gas cylinder

I work in the compressed gas industry, some years ago a stuntman approached our company to build a co2 rocket engine that would spin his car in circles upon activation. With a full cylinder 60Lb of liquid CO2 & an exit port on the electric valve of about 3/8" we were surprised that the...
