Phantom Datum on a Product Design Drawing

Sorry, they want to enforce the inspection "their" way.

Phantom Datum on a Product Design Drawing

Yes, to KENAT. He and the engineers here do that way too many times. They want to enforce the inspection there way. Also, with this problem, the parts are not coming in to print and not working properly, so this is his solution eventhough it hasn't worked in the past. If I can make the time...

Phantom Datum on a Product Design Drawing

Nope, not a bad sketcher. It's very clear.

Phantom Datum on a Product Design Drawing

I would love to have the tool designers design the gage, but he is "LAW" and will not take "NO" for an answer. That's why I need to have a valid reason he shouldn't do this. I hesitate to send an attachment because of propriety reasons because I'm a contractor.

Phantom Datum on a Product Design Drawing

Hi, We are using ASME Y14.5-2009. This is a MIM part (mold). Our Design department's final checker is a Manufacturing Enginneer. He has REDLINED a part that I don't fully agree with, but I could be wrong. Please HELP. The base of this part is critical to fit. Two opposite sides are angled...

    DATUM TARGET PLACEMENT

Belanger, thank you so much. You explained it perfectly. Also, thanks to all of you for the help.

    DATUM TARGET PLACEMENT

yes, it is not 90 degrees to B & C

    DATUM TARGET PLACEMENT

"Offset established datums", yes, not my question. I don't have a 1994 standard, only 2009.

    DATUM TARGET PLACEMENT

ASME Y14.5-2009. I am checking a small casting, product design drawing. The part is about 6 x .75 x 2.5 inches. The tooling/manufacturing engineer wants datum A's three target areas to be on 3 different surfaces of the casted part. Datum B's two targets are on one surface and C is...

    DIMENSIONING A 90 DEGREE ANGLE ??

The only info I can find on the internet is that 90 degrees is implied, but I am still looking.

    DIMENSIONING A 90 DEGREE ANGLE ??

CheckerHater, This is a small simple part with only two views. There is only one angle dim of 25 degrees shown tangent to the arc. Just to be clear, you are saying the tangent line on the other side of the arc (which is 90 degrees from the 25, needs to be dimensioned?

    DIMENSIONING A 90 DEGREE ANGLE ??

Hello, We use ASME Y14.5-2009. We have two different opinions here. Is a 90 degree angle ever dimensioned? There is an arc with a line tangent to that arc at 25 degrees from the vertical. There is another line on the otherside of the arc, tangent to that arc, which is 25 degrees from the...

DO THE SECOND AND THIRD DATUMS NEED TO BE RELATED......

Hello to all, English really is my first language, but we all have our limitations and I am admitting mine. :-) From reading Para 4.9 I come up with : It's best to control by Geo Tol, DATUM B to DATUM A and DATUM C to A & B, but it is not THE LAW. If I am interpreting this correctly can I...

DO THE SECOND AND THIRD DATUMS NEED TO BE RELATED......

I agree with you and I'm still trying to decipher it. Still haven't gotten my answer. I'm sure it's my lack of brain power, but I'll keep on trying.

DO THE SECOND AND THIRD DATUMS NEED TO BE RELATED......

Thank you for answering. Can you tell me where in ASME Y14.5-2009 it writes that? I have to have proof in my hand when I tell him this. I haven't found it yet. Thanks again....

DO THE SECOND AND THIRD DATUMS NEED TO BE RELATED......

Hi, I would appreciate your help. ASME Y14.5-2009, MATL: 302 SS .040 THK, OVERALL SIZE IN INCHES: 4.000 X .075 & .325 X .040. 2 Bends. The engineer has DATUMS A, B, & C. No FCF showing any relationship with B to A and none with C back to A & B. He does have one bend with profile of a...
