I need to know which coating to use for coating the I.D. of some large diameter (7') cement piping that has been in service for over 20 years. We want the pipe to last for another 20 + years. The pipe handles a high volume of water (110°F max)for a cooling system. Some of the coatings that...
Take a look at Lincoln's, "The Procedure Handbook of Arc Welding", pages 3.1-7 through 3.1-9. Several formulas are shown on these pages. If you don't have the book Lincoln may have it on their web site. Good luck.
Is PWHT'ing of Carbon Steel Pipe For Anhydrous Ammonia Service just a customer requirement or a particular code requirement? If a code can you tell me which one and what paragraph? Our design temperature is -50°F. If the weld hardness is kept below 200 BHN is it really needed? Thanks for any...
An important question to ask is: Does ASME allow this process to be used in lieu of thermal stress relieving in section VIII, division 1, UCS-56 of the pressure vessel code? As far as I know they don't. If ASME doesn't use the process then I would stay away from it if I were you.

If you can't afford a metal analyzer then you can either hire someone that has a metal analyzer to come out to your location and examine each piece of metal or you can cut off a small piece of metal from each plate, bar or pipe and send the samples to a test lab to be analyzed (be sure to...

I've heard that failures have occured when welding duplex SS to dissimilar metals using ERNiCrMo-3 due to Nitrogen reduction in the fusion line, because Nb bonds with the Nitrigen. Is this true?
Does anyone know of any published articles on the web that bears this out?
Thanks,
