A core balance ground ct connection was used in O/L in a Motor,
while residual ground CT connection was used for O/C at the secondary side of Transfomer going to the switchgear where the motor connected.
My question is, can I coordinate the two relays?
What is more sensitive during ground...
YES,
Pls see specs below:
Bus bar length per phase (6.260 mm)
- Diameter = 1704 mm
- Rated voltage = 17.5 KV
- Conductor material = Hard Aluminum
- Rated current = 4,170 A
- Test Voltage = 38 KV
- BIL = 95 KV
- Number of...
Can anyone help me how to compute the relay pick up, time delay and instaneous setting, to tell you the truth I dont know how to deal with it.
Hope you can help.
Thanks.

Hi,
Anyone can provide me some formula or
computation why a L-G fault is higher that L-L
fault in distribution system mostly with XLPE feeders?
Existing Transformers are solidly ground.
Thanks
Hi Guys,
I need a help in looking for a procedure on how to set an earth fault relay
What are parameters needed, (eg. short circuit fault, etc..)
Thanks.
Hi Unclebob,
We are using sfra for testing transformer, specially after a fault.
I attached sfra traces from 3 identical 1-phase transformers
that I tested. This is very interesting because the instrument reveals that one of the 3 transformer got problem after a...
Is there a need to conduct Reduced Voltage Trip and Close Coil Testing on circuit breakers? What maintenance is necessary for tripping and closing coils of circuit breakers? What are their current maintenance practices in trip/close coils? Any IEEE/ASTM Standard related to trip/close coils testing?
Does anyone have a formula in calculating the inrush current for Capacitor Bank.
The scenario is: there are two Capacitor Banks connected in parrallel, in each bank there is a series damping reactor connected.
Thanks.
Dear WARoss,
Thank you for your explanation too.
If you look at the picture, that connection was the neutral bushing and the two leads going down are from 230KV and from diverter switch. That wire going to the diverter switch was almost cutoff, only the tape insulation carried it, so you can see...
Thank you very much for your reply.
Actually this scenario was actually happen.
3-sets of 200MVA single-phase in a bank to form a three phase, one of the 3-units suffer this kind of problem.
Almost three weeks of monitoring, 2-3 alarms of Buchols is happening everyday. DGA activities specially...
