    Steel Rolled Beam Cambering

Hi All, Usually in our bridge plans we acount for steel weight deflection, slab deflection, superimposed deflection, vertical profile and superelevation effects for the camber diagrams. Why is the need to show the superelevation effects for camber purposes since camber is only to bring out the...

    Concrete bin walls

Does anyone know of a design example of conrete bin walls with piles? I would like to see how to compute the forces on the pile? Thanks, Te

House Masonry Foundation Blocks impacts from Live Load

If a house is approximately 12' away from a road where they are hauling heavy equipment. Could this heavy live load cause cracking in the foundation masonry blocks? How could i rule out just normal cracking from the material. Thanks,

    Passive Earth Pressure Resistance

Does anyone know how to input passive earth pressure resistance as linear spring? What equations should i use. Your help is greatly appreciated.

    PYWALL- Embeddment

Does anyone know how to determine the pile penetration depth from PYWALL Software? It uses the PY Method.

    Lateral Earth Pressure Spreadsheet

I was just curious if anyone out there has one or knows where to download a spreadsheet that computes lateral stresses from earth pressure and surcharge loadings? Thanks Tre

    Tieback designs

When doing tieback designs -does one need to check embedment is deep enough to ensure passive resistance? It seems most designers dont -and if you are suppose to how does one go about it solving it? Ita not like cantilever shoring on the equilibrium method. Your help is greatly appreciated. Tre

    Pile Buck-SPW911

The pile buck software SPW911 seems to be okay. Does anyone have a workaround to placing a lateral load onto the pile? Unfortunately it appears that it only handles the earth pressure internally and one can't add an additional loading. This seems to limit what this program can do.

    shoring design principle results

I want to ask fellow shoring engineers out there. It seems there are advantages and disadvantages to the limit equilibrium method, numerical methods, and the p-y method(soil interaction) for doing shoring design. My question is that i have seen slightly different results for each method more...

    PYWALL

Does anyone know where i could obtain a mathcad sheet or excel sheet that calcs some of the pywall input parameters required for input for soldier pile wall and tieback cases? If one has been created and available i guess there is no need to recreate something. Just Curious.

    P-Y Curves

Does anyone know where i can obtain a spreadsheet that computes p-y for various layers such as clay, sand ? I realize that programs such as COM624 and LPile compute these but sometimes you have to input based on modfied soi layers. Thanks, TRE

    Lateral stiffness parameters

Doe anyone know how to compute the lateral stiffness parameter for soil, clay and rock? I am doing shoring design for sheeting and soldier pile lagging. Thanks, Tim

    Lateral Spring Stiffness (lbs/in)

I am using PYWALL to do some designs but i want to accurately input Lateral spring stiffness (lbs/in). I think when i account for soil pile interaction, i can take advantage of this and my pile deflections, moments, can be reduced. Thanks, Tim

    PYWALL

Has anyone out there used PYWALL for soldier pile and lagging? It seems to be pretty solid software. A few things i am not sure yet if it checks global stability, ie. soldier pile embedded into 10 ft of rock. Will it check this using LRFD? Let me know Thanks, Tim

    2003 BOCCA RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE

Does anyone know what the minimum depth a footing needs to be in or to meet the frost penetration depths of BOCCA RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS? Also how about maximum wall bowness in the concrete block walls. They are only 8'-4" in but bowing 1/2" at top of wall. i realize there going...
