Hello, all. It's been a long time since I've posted, being more of a lurker lately. However, I'm not sure where else to turn with this problem.
I've been a long-time user of this little app called Allnetic Working Time Tracker, and I believe I may have even recommended it here in the past...
I'm having problems with Toolbox-generated parts over-writing my in-assembly fasteners. I save my Toolbox-generated parts in the directory with the project I'm working on and in the past, this didn't happen. Since I don't work in a multiple-user environment, this works out fine for me and my...
Odd thing happening--any options in SolidWorks (or Windows 7) to prevent start-up of SolidWorks from simultaneously starting an external hard drive? This didn't happen previously, but I've recently updated my system and reinstalled Windows 7.
Thanks!

I'm getting notices of trojan infestation on the SW forum this morning. Not sure whether this is a false positive, intercepted connection, or what, but I'm attaching a snapshot to show what I mean. The site seems to be hosting a script that runs upon load of the page.
Has anyone seen similar...
I've grown to like PV 360 more, the more I use it. However, this is the first time I'm using it for production work in v2011, and the interface changes have me lost on how to hide my environment for the final render. How do I do this? In v2010, there was a settings window where I could select...
I've taken the plunge and installed Windows 7 (64-bit Pro) on a new hard drive. I've installed SW v2009 on the system, but I cannot seem to get any SPs to properly install (with SWIM or manual downloads/installs).
If this has been accomplished by anyone, can you give me details on how to do...
Matt Lombard has a series of posts which has led up to this poll on which features people would most like to see in upcoming releases of SolidWorks. I'm posting this here to let you know about it and gather some larger numbers for this poll. If you're interested in voicing your opinion for...
I've got a novelty product I need to source, which is to be made of a light-weight (low-density?) but tiny-pored foam that would be good for applying screen-print or pad-printing. I'm thinking of a material similar to some of the step-aerobic blocks I've seen before (or preferably even more...
I've got a small part that's cut from an extrusion and needs anodizing that I need to source. This is primarily a cosmetic piece, so the anodizing quality is more important than the strength of the part. Preferably I could obtain a chamfer on the edges of the part during the cut-off process...
Wow, they must really have their hands full over at SolidWorks. Their forum has been stalled, clamped, locked-down since early Monday morning. Anyone know when the "new" forums will be open? To me, it's a bit surprising they'd shut down one forum several days before starting the next...
I've created a Bill of Materials in a drawing in v2009, but many of the cells show not my part name/number, but "PreviewCfg" instead (in the Part Number column). As best I can tell this is usually with Toolbox-based parts.
Whatever I do, I cannot seem to get the true name of the part to appear...
Anyone use one of these yet? If so, what do you think?

At $500, I'd hope it does its job well. I like that it's got so many programmable buttons, but I've already got hot keys I use all the time on the keyboard.
Thoughts?

I did a clean install for v2008, and v2009--meaning I hid my registry items so the new installs would allow me the full experience of seeing new default settings, etc.
In doing so, my sketches now have the cluttered look of all the little relations icons everywhere. I somehow managed to find...
In the past, using v2007 I had no problems creating separate configurations of my assemblies by hiding some components and showing others, depending on the configuration. When I saved to eDrawing format, each configuration looked exactly as it did within SolidWorks. However, in "upgrading" to...
This might appear as a rant, but it's really a bit of research. I've recently endured a change from v2007 to v2008 for a hand tool design--lots of surface work with Fills, Sweeps, Lofts, etc. I had some rather predictable bugs pop up when my assembly was in v2007. My client had someone else...
This seems to be a problem when I want to quickly check the dimensions of a sketch upstream. Double-clicking used to yield the dimensions of the sketch--now it edits the sketch. Huge waste of time for rebuilding. Apparently the problem is Instant 3D, but I've not seen anything under Help to...
OK, I now have a client who actually specified models built in SW2008. So I've installed it and am working with it. No big deal--a few interface inconsistencies, but this version seems OK to me other than that stuff.
I add colors to my parts on the part level. I open my main assembly and...
This might be a good time to get one if you've always wanted to try it out. It's the PE version, which means no tech support available (from what I understand). I've never needed tech support, so it's not an issue with me.

It seems getting good color saturation from attempts to anodize die-cast parts is problematic. Is there some other such process that might yield similar aesthetic results (paint, powder coat, plating)?
The coating would need to withstand common contact with brake fluid--making this quest a bit...
I've seen numerous threads on some specific questions, but with my situation, I'm wondering what sorts of things I need to know in making the jump to v2009.
Here's the thing--I really need to keep v2007 on this system at the same time if possible. With that considered, this won't be a...
