    Velocity of Flashing Slurry

We are designing a bottom entry flash vessel to drop slurry from 380 kPa to atmospheric pressure. The choke sits below a slurry pool to assist in reducing the slurry velocity before it impacts onto a target. I know the steam and slurry velocity at the choke but how do I predict the velocity at...

    Superficial Gas Velocity - Tank

Designing an atmospheric leach tank to react a slurry with conc sulfuric acid. Expect to have significant amounts of CO2 evolved and foaming so need to account for the superficial gas velocity in selecting the tank diameter. General rule of thumb in this office is 0.035 m/s, based on Am3/h of...

    Direct Contact Heater Design

I am reviewing various methods for design of direct contact heaters, used to heat incoming slurry (40% solids) with flash steam in an autoclave system. James Fair has published much in this area but it mainly relates to hydrocarbon processing. Is anyone aware of papers or real examples...

    Boiling Point Elevation

I need to calculate the change in water vapour pressure for a system at 95 deg C resulting from the boiling point elevation due to dissolved salts. System is a closed agitated tank at atmospheric pressure into which sulfuric acid is added. Carbon dioxide is evolved and recovered. Hence, I...

    H2S Process Risk Assessment

I am conducting a qualitative risk assessment of a process using H2S to precipitate a mixed metal sulfide. Are there any notable incidents/accidents involving H2S that I can access for reference? Thanks

    Sealing a leaking acid valve

We have a leaking (from the bonnet gasket) diaphragm valve in a conc sulfuric acid duty. Slow drip, low pressure. Replacement of the valve requires a plant shutdown. Is anyone aware of a product we could use to seal/encapsulate the valve on line, to see us through until the next planned shutdown?

Alloy 33 - Technical Specs and Applications

I am chasing more detail on alloy 33, which I believe is suitable for acidic and oxygen enriched environments. The application is pipework for acidic slurry transport at 100-175oC. Chloride levels in the water are around 12000 ppm. Please direct me to a suitable source of information. Thanks
