    Casing nominal weight

Could someone please enlighten me why there can be two nominal weights for the same OD and wall thickness? For example, this is what I found on Tenaris Website. 18 5/8" OD 0.500" Wall casing has nominal weight 99ppf and 100ppf (Screenshot in attachment) We make a living by what we get; we...

    Create S-N curve with FEA

Hi, can anyone advise how to generate an S-N curve of a component using FEA? Our company designed a product some years back, tested it in a resonance fatigue testing machine and generated an S-N curve. Now we created a few variations of that product (similar geometry but different in size)...

Coating for steel last 2 years

Hi, I'm looking for a coating for steel pipe that can last for at least 2 years in marine environment. Any recommendations? We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.

    Duty cycle

Hi, I'm purchasing a magnetizing machine for company, and it has specs as follow: 3-phase, 380V, 50Hz Current = 300A Duty cycle = 30% Taking into consideration of the duty cycle, how much power should be allocated for safe operation?

    Upset on stainless steel pipe

Anybody please advise if it is possible to upset a SS pipe? If yes, is there any standard procedure? what are the things need to pay attention to, and it there a limit on upset dimension? If not, what are the reasons? Thank you in advance.

    Stress and metal fatigue

When talking about metal fatigue, we know that number of loading cycles to failure is related to stress. But the stress we talk about here refers to max. stress or stress range? I'd expect both max stress and stress range affect the number of cycles. Yet in a typical S-N curve I see only the...

    NACE MR0175 for L80

What's the implication of NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 on API L80? Seems the only requirement is on hardness, max being HRC22 instead of HRC23 as specified in API 5CT? Any other things I missed out?

Metal to metal contact for stainless steel

Hi all, I just graduated and join a company on O&G industry. We deal with pipe for casing and tubing in a oil well. Sometimes the pipes are made of stainless steel (13Cr, 22Cr, inconel etc). I was told that metal-to-metal contact for such material should be prevented as it will cause corrosion...
