Is there a rule of thumb, or an easy way to find, the proper location (% of exposed or total wall height) of a singe row of anchor tie-backs for a anchored sheet pile wall?
Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.
For a bridge structure on a horizontal curve does the centrifugal force result in an additional horizontal force and/or vertical force on the structure. I understand that the force is a horizontal force @ 6' above the deck, but am a little unsure if it results in an additional downward vertical...
I have modeled a structure as a space frame and now need to identify some members as a truss member. Can this be done by selecting the member graphically and making it a truss member or do I have to go into the input file and identify it there?
Thank you.
Hello All,
I am trying to obtain the moment of inertia of built up steel members by drawing the sections in AutoCadd and using the massprop command. When I check AutoCadd's results with hand calcs, it appears that AutoCadd is computing the section properties about at the lower left hand point...
Is the panel point dead load the same at the top and bottom chord due to a point load placed along the vertical member at a location other than mid Height?
I am having difficulty figuring out how to calculate the torsional moment of inertia of a built up steel member comprised of vertical plates, horizontal plates, and angles?
Can anyone provide any guidance?
Does anyone have experience in methods to repair timber cribbing with stone in-fill which serves as the foundation of a bridge on mortared stone masonry piers? Some of the timber cribbing has dislodged and deteriorated, resulting in the loss of stone in-fill. Our initial thoughts are to pressure...
