I received request from a plant , for 2 bypass valves
on bolted bonnet class 600 gate valve. (12inch)
I am used to have bypass line (and valve) for equalizing
down and up stream pressure but is 2nd line necessary for bolted bonnet valve?
I believe this is a typical solution for pressure seal...
Hi there,
a pump vendor proposing cast iron pump for sulfuric acid. (%98 at 40 deg. C ( 104 F)
gjl-200 = grey cast iron
I could not find any solid literature defending this. Only high-silicon cast irons looks
suitable.
Could I have your input?
For %80 sulfuric acid application, temperature is around
at max 43 deg. C , which material do you recommend?
I am stuck between Alloy 20 and Hastelloy C series.
Pressure : 1 bar , no impurities.
I am trying to prepare a paper based on C12A material use by valves.
Experienced ones can advice why casting this material is more tricky than
others. Or is i due to only high temperature use of this material?
I am selling products of a US vendor for rotary control valves.
I received an inquiry for geothermal power plant indicating dual phase flow

Dear All,
Could you share your experiences for pressurized ammonia sphere connection line
isolation valves? Which type is better? Ball will be cheaper but sealing can be an issue
after cycles.

For acidic applications, 904L is required but it is hard to source.
What can be the alternative material considering corrossion resistance?
Thanks in advance for comments.
Dear Experienced ones,
Could you give me rough idea about price comparison for below materials,
I believe most of you handled such materials for valves.
(considering WCB is 100 unit)
WCB, 316, 317, 904L, ALLOY 20, 2205, 2507, FERRALIUM 255, ZERON100, MONEL, HASTELLOY

Dear all,
If I am not wrong,
Class 900 - 4" and Less
Class 1500 - 3" and Less
Class 2500 - 2" and less have FULL PORT whereas
Class 900 - 6” and larger
Class 1500 - 4” and larger
Class 2500 - 3” and larger have REDUCED PORT.
Could you advice where this detail specified. In ASME 16.34?
Thanks...
Is there any norm to describe when valve insulation shall be made?
There is a pipeline for 40-50 deg. C operation and steam is purged for 24 hours
once a year at 400 deg & 10 bars.
Do you see any necessity to apply insulation for a butterfly valve?
This is the first time I ever saw below expression in a spec,
could you pls. advice how could I handle it?
Manufacturers shall conform the Corrosion
allowance of 3mm within the thickness
achievable as per the Design Standard of the
valve.
Type is high performance butterfly valves.
Thanks
Stellite is the most common hardfacing method as far as I see in the industry.
Which other materials are used for hardfacing?
What about nickel overlay? Any comparison for nickel & stellite ?
I have a lot of technical literature that is saying CF8M is not suitable for
sea water due to pitting corrosion. However I am looking for some specific
research indicating corrosion rates of different metals like
CF3M, CF8M, Duplex, Super Duplex etc.
Is there is someone that could help me for...
Could someone advice the advantages of multi spring diaphragm actuator vs.
single spring diaphragm actuator or piston actuator?
Or the reason to use it?
Hi to all,
I am working on a project where we are trying to replace
some Korean valves.
Valves we will use has shorter flange to flange dimensions
thus we need to arrange a solution for the difference.
I believe there are some experienced ones that would recommend
the most economical or...
Dear All,
I am trying to understand the preference on double eccentric over single eccentric.
Especially Awwa designs are single offset. Whereas Europen prefer
double eccentric. (what I see)
Options,
1.better sealing (any concrete number for proof?)
2.less wear on seal(any concrete number...
I would like to receive comments of the experienced one. I am working on a paper plant project and for reject lines, overlay material will be selected for wear resistance.
What is your suggestion for stellite or tungsten carbide?
Are there any specific parameters to compare like hardness etc...
There is a pipeline and max. op. pressure is 90 (6 bar) psi.
Pipeline pressure class is class 600.
Would it be a problem to install Class 150 valve on this pipeline?
Would there be a liability problem?
