Hey everyone.
So I am trying to find the best way to organize all of our tooling in our CNC department. We have a fairly large tool crib, but it is currently a total mess. We have 4 setup people, all with their own tool boxes with many random boring bars, drills, collets, etc inside. But we also...
Hey Guys.
I have a Brass Casting that needs to be turned on both faces and the OD. The ID is approximately 4" (has a 1 degree draft angle though).
I was going to just use an ID chuck (with steps so I can do the back face), but have been told that no chucking marks are allowed (which makes no...
Hi guys
This is more af a preference and job specifice thing, but when picking off with a sub spindle do you usually have the spindles turning (synced of course) and/or what are the scenarios/advantages to spinning rather than not.
Thanks

Hi, when looking in a tooling book, you have your standard 6 different coloured boxes indicating the type of material being cut. P-Steel M-Stainless Steel K-Cast Iron S-Heat resistant super alloys N-Aluminum H-Hard Part.
I use alot of Copper, Brass and Non ferrous materials and just wondering...
Just a general past experiences question. I know this has many variables but when machining, If the ISCAR book gives a range for feedrate and depth of cut for an insert, what percentage of that range would you use when roughing. Mostly turning, but milling answers are very helpful too!
Ex. CNMG...
Hi.
When Drilling multiple holes on a lathe, all to different depths, is it always smallest hole to largest hole or is it sometimes beneficial to start with the larger holes first to save the smaller drill or for any other reasons (concentricity, finish, etc)
Thanks

Hey everybody.
So at our shop (Machine shop) the drawings made are always in the orientation that they will be made (makes it easier for the operator). Now, I did a group of 5 similar parts, all very complicated 2 page drawings with many sections and details. I swore I was told the orientation...
Hey guys.
I have an ID that needs to be smaller. I drew it as a sketch and revolved it to make my form and only 1 diameter is wrong. I was wondering if I could quickly make it smaller without having to make a new sketch and revolve it again and so on.
Their has to be a simple steering wheel...
At the moment I am running windows XP and Solid Edge ST 1. We don't have a maintenance package on ST so as of now we are not getting ST 2 or 3, but this may be in my future (and yes, I have heard of how great the enhancements are, its mostly a money thing). I am going to be running Esprit CAM...
Hi
I was just wondering if their was a way to take my metric drawing and quickly change to imperial. As of now I choose all of the dimensions and switch them from ANSImm to ANSI, but have to individually convert and input tolerances (usually dont have a standard tolerance for many dimensions)...
I have requested and been getting the original AutoCAD drawings files from our customers and I would like just to take their drawing, dimensions and all, and change it up with my companies header. When I open the files they come up within the the 2D model tab. From here I would like to delete...
So very basic question that is driving me crazy. I have a part with an external thread, yet I cannot find the thread command. Tried the command search, nothing. Looked up on the internet and saw a YouTube video of having a drop down menu under the Hole command with a thread command. Mine doesn't...

When I make a revolve (sometimes), the geometry does not match what it was supposed to and has many angles that were not supposed to be there. When I put into a drawing it seems fine, all I am worried about is when I go to do this in CAM, that it will follow the incorrect...
So I have a group of very complex parts that look identical but with different sizes (not a perfect scale though) and I would just like to cheat a bit and take 1 drawing and change the dimensions, but when you put in a custom dimension, it underlines it to indicate that it is not the original...
New to ST and actually havent used Solid Edge in 3 years so I may be posting a fair amount of questions for a while.
When making a drawing in metric, If there is a dimension that I would like to change to a custom size, and I click on it, the dialogue box comes up in inches and changes it to...
I simply would like to make all of my dimensions have trailing zeroes on ST. I can go to each individual dimension property and change this but this gets quite tedious. I would like to set this for all of my drawings once and not change it again but not sure how. Any suggestions would be...
