My SolidWorks (2012, SP2) began to crash when I try to assign a material to an object. It does it every time. This started after the latest version of DraftSight was installed in mid-November. This was an upgrade, I had DraftSight on there already and SW worked fine.

This may be a trivial question for you electrical types, but it's stuff I just don't know . . .
We have a customer, sort of an "All ya gotta do" type and not as clever as he thinks he is, who knows how to pull the strings of my boss (the dolt). He wants us to design / piece together a system...
I searched but didn't find anything real close.
For a ball valve ball (see attached drawing) made from 1045 HR round bar, 12" dia with a 4.5" bore by supplier, there is apparently distortion caused by the relieving of residual stress after the material is milled away on top & bottom to create...
I searched and didn't find a thread similar enough on rapid decompression.
For a trunnion ball valve, 8" port, 15000psi rating, during testing the valve is cycled Open under full test pressure differential, 16500psi. My topic here is the seat ring (the steel ring which houses the actual...
Does anyone have definitive information on how smooth a surface can be achieved on the 20-30% carbon or glass fiber filled PEEK compounds? I need it for a sealing application where our current spec is 16Ra for plain PEEK. Also, I wonder if fibers could be pulled out by the machining and leave...
Can anyone offer any insight into the differences between valve bore sizes per pressure class between ANSI B16.34 and API 6D? (as shown in the attached .txt file)
For example, notice that an 8" CL900 is shown as 7.50" in B16.34 but is shown as 8.00" in 6D. (I've always used B16.34 in the past.)
Does anyone know if barbell-shaped rolled steel barstock is available? I would swear I saw some 6 or 8 or 10 years ago, but sitting here thinking about it now, that might have been aluminum.
What I am looking for would be 3.50" to 4.00" dia rounds on 9" to 10" centers with the connecting web...
I recently started a new job with a company where the engineering has not been "by the book". There are varying material specifications for different sized parts (same function in different sized assemblies). One that is tripping me up because I have never encountered it before is the 17-4...
