Am I right in thinking the BM in the bar shown is the resultant load R multiplied by the perpendicular distance to the opposite pin?. I suppose it's similar to a spreader bar but the few calcs I've seen for spreader bars haven't taken bending into account and I'm sure there must be some.
Is the calculation for tube thickness with a negative internal pressure the same as for posative internal pressure(pd/f). Can't remember this one and all texts only do formulaes for posative internal pressures, nothing showing an external pressure.

What stops the "long" lengths of roof beams from buckling in portal frames. they seem quite a small depth relative to other structures.

I occasionally use a very old version of SW and have to click the ROTATE icon each time. I,m sure it use to be "automatic" at one time. ie just hold the mouse button down without having to click the icon. How can I make it automatic?

BS 6399 states a certain amount of horizontal imposed loading on barriers/railings of so much per m. What if you have a sigle or double legged post in the centre of a "run". Is there a load requirement for that?
