    Looking for ideas on a valve type. I have to install some valves on my city water intake. 6" steel lines. Its slightly filtered river water which can include debris, both small and medium size.     Other than the office testing according to API such PRII etc.. What is the inherent difference between a standard high pressure trunnion ball valve and one that is subsea design? This seems broad I know but basically could I use a 316SS trunnion 6000k ball valve for a subsea application?

    What class under ASME B16.34 would ball valves with ratings to 15-20k have? I do not see a material in B16.34 that can be rated so high. Does 16.34 take us to 4500 special class then above 11,250psi do other standards then need to be followed? How about an API spec?

    API fire tests

    Any basic ideas as to the difference between specs API 607 and API 6FA? It appears that the testing is the same however the 6FA is strictly for API designed valves and the 607 is for "others". Any ideas?

    We have our soft seated ball valves fire tested to API 607, which refers to fire testing for soft seated quarter turn valves. Is there a API standard for metal seated valves?

    Is 17-4 not suitable for all sour gass apllications or does NACE limit the material to have special requirments? Having a hard time getting a straight answer.
