Hi. A cold formed steel structure is going to be designed according to the AISI specification.(It is NOT a light gauge steel frame!) The elements are relatively thick. So the structure meets the ductility criteria and other requirements of the AISC specification and the seismic provisions, too...
Hi,
Would you please to notify me about the effect of thickness on seismic ductility? I mean that, if two elements with different thicknesses (eg. t<3 and t>3 mm), have the equal width/thickness ratio, do they have the different seismic behaviors, in practice?
Hi,
Can anybody give some information about average of consumable steel (including rafters, purlins, roof and vertical bracings…) in common clear span rigid frames with built-in welded sections . (e.g. for Span: 50-60', bay and height: 20', roof slope:%15-20).
What are the results for truss...
In a mass housing project that includes of 4-story buildings with light gauge system(LSF),it is planning to assemble structure of each story (wall frames + joists and metal sheet of ceiling) on the floor next to the building. Then it will be lifted and installed at story level by crane.

In a structure, distance between two adjacent columns is 4'.
They are connected by horizontal and diagonal elements at
3 points in height. Heights of columns are 9'.
What is the criteria for ratio of Distance/Height to consider columns as a laced column or separated columns with bracing?
Hi
It seems in planar trusses that side bracing of compressed chord is provided at all joints but tension chord is not restrained completely against lateral movement (side-supported at some joints), the effective length of diagonal and vertical elements for out-of-plane buckling in...
