We are quoting alteration of a large ASME stamped carbon steel tank. Alteration includes addition of am 18 inch bottom flange with 36” long water boot w/ 2” 150# flange on bottom.
I'm not familiar with a water boot; can anyone provide guidance/information on what that might be.
Thanks

There are 4 new spools to be fabricated and installed as boiler external piping. Shop fabrication is welded, field installation is mechanical assembly (flanged and bolted) only. I understand that Form P-4A is needed for fabrication, but is From P-4B needed for field installation of these...
I'm trying to use a 30 inch 304L RFSO flange under Section VIII. I understand B16.5 covers these up to 24 inches and B16.47 for larger diameters does not include slip-ons. Section VIII UG-11 allows for use of prefabricated pressure parts made to an ASME (i.e.; UG-44) or manufacturers standard...
Note 28 (Table W-3) for the minimum head thickness on line 8 of the manufacturer's data report states it is the "Specified minimum thickness of the head after forming. It includes corrosion allowance."
I would like to be sure it means the minimum head thickness specified (what is ordered)...
We believe if we have a nozzle > NPS 10" or > 1 1/8" thickness, we need to use the joint efficiency from UW-12 on the long weld seam of the nozzle in addition to the weld factor in the allowable stress from Section II.
The question is how does whether you spot x-ray the vessel section Category...
UW-14-b states that single openings meeting UG-36(c)(3) requirements may be located in Category B or C butt welded joints.
Can a single opening meeting UG 36 (c)(3) be located in a Category A butt welded joint? If so under what conditions/requirements?
I'm trying to check some type 4 jacketed vessel with closure bars calculations (f-1 attached to shell, g-3 attached to jacket).
I'm not clear on some of the values in the formula for calculating jacket space, j, given in (c)5 of Mandatory Appendix 9. The definition of symbols given don't make...
