anyone had a case where the module has expansion joint during shipping? how did you resolve this?
this question was asked to me during my interview with an oil and gas EPC company.. i never had a case like this coz we split our modules at the expansion joint..
which is a better semi formal for an interview
1. long sleeves with tie no coat
2. long sleeves with coat no tie
or should i go completely formal coat and tie
I was thinking of going back to school to increase my marketability.
Is surveyor a good choice? What's the market for entry level surveyor.

i got interviewed 1st by the recruiter for 1 hr over the phone..
i got interviewed by the managers/lead engineers for 1 hr over the phone..
i got onsite interview for 5 hours! can you believe that 5 hours! with 5 different managers..
i didnt get the job... wtf..
i knew i wasnt getting the job...
i'm still confuse which plate element best to use for the moment for rebar design.
is it plate right on the point of concentrated loads say there is a pedestal (i find this overly conservative even if i spread the concentrated loads by adding fictitious diagonal "columns")
or plate next to...
Any recommendation for good retrofit books for concrete, steel, anchor bolt, foundation, etc..
I'll be working inside a plant were majority of what they do "retrofit" existing stuff..

what do civil/structural engineer usually do in a plant (chemical, refinery, etc..)?
i have minimal experience in the site..
i have been involved on the design a lot of plants but wants to know
what is the scope of civil/structural engineer when the plant is in operation already?
i left all my books at my house.. anyhow, am searching the internet for a guide to design embedment length with welded plate at the bottom.. also designing the plate thickness and width

i got laid off recently. no job openings in my field at least until mid next year.

i have a PE with 9 yrs exp.
i got a job offer for $25/hr, no 401k, no overtime pay
from a small company.
i was thinking accept it and leave later.
but my interviewer said his biggest...
after college, i started working for EPC oil and gas companies for few years now..
i want to transfer to building or bridge design?
how do i do that? can i transfer as newbie engineer?
anyone had similar experience?
