Trouble recording a macro in 2009

We just switched from Solidworks 2007 to 2009 at work. I used to have a macro that would turn off dual dimensions as I don’t use them but they are turned on in our drawing templates. I imported my settings and everything worked except this macro. I tried recording these actions again, but...

Looking for Solidworks models of PVC plumbing fittings

I scoured the web and couldn't find any downloadable models. Anybody have an idea if they are available somewhere? I'm mainly looking for 1.5" and 2" PVC elbows, wyes, sanitary tees. Thanks!

What should I upgrade for improved performance?

Here's the specs on my current computer. It starts to get pretty slow when I work with large assemblies. The regeneration time and editing become very slow. If I try to move a sliding part it often moves very slow and takes a while to get it started. Dell Precision360 P4 2.8 GHz Nvidia...

    Thru hole callouts in drawings

I'm having a problem with thru hole callouts in drawings. A turned part is 1" long and I have an extruded cut "through all" along the centerline. When I put it in a drawing, I use the "hole callout" feature to define the hole. I remember a while ago, instances like this would be calle out...

    Magnets for tool bits

I've seen and used before round magnets that slip over a screwdriver bit to hold a fastener for assembly. They are about 1/2" in diameter and 3/8" in height. Different color plastic covers. I can't figure out where to buy them from though? I thought I got them from McMaster before but can't...

How can I "see" something that's suppressed

As you roll over features in the feature tree on the left side of the screen, the feature or part gets a red box around it in the model. If the item is supressed, you don't get the red box letting you know which one you are rolling over. Is there any way to still get some sort of indication of...

I need a "resistance to voltage or current" device

I need to make a test to verify correct parts are installed in an assembly. I'm looking for a correct motor voltage. I have verified that the different voltage motors we use have very different resistances across the leads. I'd like a device then, that will turn a resistance value into a...

How can I continuously spin a model?

I was wondering if there is a way to continuously spin a model/assembly, for presentation purposes? SW2005. Thanks.

    ACME threads in holewizard?

Is it possible to get ACME threads in the holewizard? I don't use them often but it would be nice on occasion.

    Assemblies always loading lightweight

I'm not sure what changed or what I changed, but every time I try to open an assembly, the Load Lightweight box is checked. Is it possible to turn this off? I always forget to uncheck the box and my assemblies load lightweight which I don't want.

    Double click view box

I'm now using 2005 sp0. In 2004 I used to have handles to drag view size (bounding box)which are missing in 2005. Is it possible to change this anymore? I just found by accident, that if you double click the bounding box of a view, the corners highlight. What does that do for you? Thanks!

Where can I get 0-5v DC power supply

Currently I have an Omron S82K-00705 power supply. I like the size of it and it's din rail mountable. It's only about 1.5" x 3" x 3". The voltage is adjustable by about 10% either way from the 5V, but I need to go lower than that (2.5-3V). Are there any companies making an adjustable...

How to transfer software settings to another computer?

I am two separate computers with Solidworks. None of the settings are the same it seems. Drawings, parts, everything turns out differently. Is there a file that is all of the saved system settings that I can copy from one to another to make both of them the same? I remember when I was using...

Can a leader point to multiple entities?

I have a leader which is dimensioning a radius on a part. There are a few of the same radii on the part. Is it possible to have one dimension point to multiple radii? Thanks

Can text be placed on a curved surface?

For simplicity, I have a cylinder that I want to place text on. I would like it on the surface and following the surface with a uniform depth of cut. Currently I put the text on a plane that is tangent to the outside of the surface. I then make a shallow extruded cut, just enough so all of...

    Cutting external threads

I was wondering if there was something as simple as "Hole Wizard" available for showing external threads on a part? Currently, I add a helix to the portion that I want to show threads on. Then I sketch the triangle made by one thread using 60deg, and the minor and major diameters. I then...

Which rubber will grip a teflon coated part the best?

I'm looking to grip a cylindrical part that is teflon coated. The goal is to keep it from rotating during assembly. I cannot mar the teflon coating so I am planning on gripping it with either round or v blocks coated in rubber or with rubber adhered to the surface. Any advise as to which...

    Macro not working

I don't like having to right click on the top level item in the feature manager and click "collapse items." I wrote a macro to do that and then assigned a hotkey to it. When I run the macro, it doesn't do anything. Anybody have any ideas why that wouldn't work?

    Titanium brake rotors for bicycle

I was wondering if anybody has any experience with brake rotors or any other braking application using titanium? I'd like to make some out of Ti but I'm not sure what grade. I'd also like to avoid surface treatment if possible. The stock rotors I have are stainless and I'm trying to figure...
