The ASME codes talk about impact testing being required for temperature below -20°F unless you de-rate the material. However, it does not say whether or not the welds are subject to impact testing.

Where does the ASME Pressure vessel code end and the ASME Pressure Piping code begin?
Our vessels have pipe stubs that we weld our piping to. Which code is that first weld subject to?

Just wanted to know how I find out what the max allowable beam deflection is? Is there a standard? Does it not matter how much it deflects? Is there a calculation?

Question:
If I have an I-Beam and a C-channel stacked and welded as one, to find the "I" of the "built-up" member can I just add the two "I" values together, or is there some other method of finding the combined "I."
