Hi All,
I have a 215' Diameter tank that has a annular ring and an annular bearing plate. Is it necessary to grind the welds flush between the 2 annular rings?
Thanks for your input.
Hi All,
I have recently come across an issue with G40.21-38W material and I was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem and what steps they took.
On 2 seperate tanks I have recently worked on I have received material specified as 38W on the MTR. However on closer inspection it...
Hi All,
I am trying to resolve a descepancy I have come across several times with small API 650 tanks. The tank in this example is a 3000bbl tank (23.5'D x 40'H).
Per the main body there are 2 checks for overturning:
5.11.2 item 1 This formula can be rearranged to find the maximum pressure...
I am currently reviewing the design of an API 650 tank built in accordance with App F.
D = 86.5'
Design pressure = 0.5psi
Is it the intent of App F 7.3 that the roof plate on a lap welded should be designed with a joint efficiency of 0.35 as per API 620?
Thanks for your thoughts.
I am having trouble sourcing a center column for a 50' tall tank that is long enough in one piece(24" std wt pipe). I have heard that our old tank expert did not allow splicing of the tank center columns. I would think that with proper testing of the weld and insuring the column remains...
Hi Everyone,
I have been requested to install a 3" nozzle into a FTCO and I have a couple of questions.
1. As per API 650 sect 5.8.3.4 the nozzle size is limited to 2" and points you to sect 5.8.3.1 for guidlines. This section is for unreinforced openings. Does this mean you could go with a...
Does anyone know why API 650 uses a 10' max spacing on the anchor chairs? I have a nozzle bank on a tank that is forcing me to space a pair of anchor chairs 12' apart. I am trying to find a way to determine if any reinforcement of the shell to bottom joint is required.
Thanks for any help you...
Hi All,
I have a 77' diameter tank I am building and we have a crease in the shell plate. The only reference I can find in API 650 is in 7.5.4.a which allows a deviation of 1/2" for peaking at vertical weld joints. Does anyone have any advice on evaluating this type of deviation?
Thanks.
