Crushed Portland Cement Concrete used as Flexible Base

Does anyone have some data/comments (firsthand) on the performance of CPCC used as flexible base? Preferably with only a chip seal as the final riding surface. Thanks [americanflag] thread822-293650

opted not to hijack AC's thread-MUTCD

hey big [xmastree] ~ was not sure if there was any merit to your statement or just frivolous jocularity~ It is my understanding the (US) MUTCD is the national standard (FHWA) for which all other STA's model their Manuals after. In order to qualify/receive federal funds STA's are...

Before ACP overlay: to mill or not to mill

I have heard from others that many somewhat recent ACP overlays, that were not milled before hand, are falling apart. Are others out there experiencing this? And if so was a chip seal placed before the overlay? Have you had more success/longevity with overlays when milling was performed...

    Surveying/Layout for Bridge components

Const. work zone S L reductions / recast

Okay, what I would really like to see is "actual" instances of use of WZ speed reductions. Anything ranging from expressway to two-lane (one-lane flagger TCP) facilities would be great. Please no manual, policy, or organizational rhetoric. You actually employed the reduction(s), and the good...

    HES conc. for bridge deck

Anybody ever tried this? The HES would be high early strength concrete used to pour a new bridge slab.

work zone speed reductions at large

Would like to throw this out there and receive comments on how effective some of you all think this is. Our standards have taken some of the teeth out of using these, by making them harder to acquire. Not looking for MUTCD qoutes, just general opinions, instances of success, failure, problems...

    Bridge Layout Question

I used to do layout early in my career, before I got lazy. I have always dreaded skewed bridges, and has been quite some time since I have visited this. The Plans include a Begin Bridge Elevation at each end (Fin. Grade) and include the bearing seat elevations. (this is standard in our plans)...
