    CLX Trainer

Has anyone tried or know someone who has tried the CLX trainer? This is a simulation software for ControlLogix/RSLogix 5000

    Test bunker engineering/construction firm

Hello all, I hope this is the right forum for this question. I work at a valve manufacturer and we assemble and perform hydrostatic testing on nearly all of the valves. Due to recent safety incidents, the company is trying to put together a "standard" for test bunker design. We are currently...

    API 11S2

Anyone familiar with API 11S2 spec? More specifically interpretation of the 5% tolerance band on the rate curve and how to determine % diff of an actual measured point from catalog curve? I have attached the spec. for reference.

    Insulation testing for cables

Hello all, I have a question concerning the best method/approach to testing the integrity of both our low voltage (480v) and medium voltage (cables). I have read that DC hi-pot testing is destructive for aged cables, which is what we have. I have also read the PD testing is a good alternative...

    Medium voltage plugs and receptacles

Hello all, I am new to this forum so bear with me :) I am looking for medium voltage (we use primarily 4160v and 6300v)quick disconnect plugs and receptacles. We use a lot of 480v and are easy to find for low voltage, but I have yet to come across any for medium voltage. Do they exist and if...

    Radial displacement of rotating cylinder

Hello, I am performing a static study in SW '10 to determine the max. radial displacement of a rotating piston rigidly attached to a shaft rotating at 3600 RPM. I actually have the piston and shaft drawn as one part and have two bearing journal surfaces on the shaft where I am applying fixtures...

    Pressure drop through annular ring

Anyone have a formula for pressure drop through an annular ring. I have found very limited information on the web, but from what I've found the pressure drop is different than that of an orifice because there are two separate surfaces with the ring. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

    Labview 2010

Does LabVIEW 2010 work on Windows 7, 64 bit, or is there a version specifically for 64 bit? thanks.

    Concrete wall thickness

Hello, I am building a water containment wall surrounding process water tanks. The wall is boxed in to form a rectangle, dimensions are approximately 500" W x 300" L x 55" H. So the maximum pressure the wall would see is 55" of standing water. The wall will have rebar going into existing...

    SAE parallel tooth splines

Does anyone know or can share documentation that references the SAE standard dimensions for parallel splines, specifically the shaft dimensions. I was able to find the dimensions for the coupling (female) splines in the machinery handbook, however not the shaft splines. I am specifically...

    Ultrasonic flowmeter

Anyone have experience with ultrasonic flowmeters and any precautions for using them? We currently have turbine meters installed measuring volumetric flow rate of filtered water. It is a pain to remove these flowmeters for calibration and expensive to buy duplicate "master" flowmeters for...

    Floworks analysis problem

I have a part I am trying to do an internal CFD analysis on with Flow simulation. The part is completely closed, actually combined all separate peices to form one body, with an internal cavity. When I run the check volume in the tools menu it tells me fluid volume is zero, but it's not telling...

    Flow control manifold

We have a flow control manifold with three parallel branches with two branches having actuated plug valves on them and the third with a manual ball valve on/off. We use this to test centrifugal pumps at various points on the curve. The larger pumps flow around 2500 GPM at BEP. The fluid...

    Rotating hydraulic cylinder

I am designing a rotary hydraulic ram where the shaft is supported on either side of the piston with cylindrical roller bearings. The hydraulic force is created by a significant pressure drop between the piston and the housing, which the fluid will leak by and drain back to tank at atmospheric...

    FloWorks question

Hello all, Attached is a simplified model of a design I'm working on and I'm trying to find the pressure drop across the piston with the .003" wall clearance. My computer crashes everytime I try to run the calculation due to lack of memory because of the small mesh size I'm assuming. Are...

    Pump surging on a VFD

Okay BigInch, I need your help here. Or anyone who has a clue for that matter. I recently replaced a DOL starter on a centrifugal booster pump with a Yaskawa VFD. We use this pump to boost pressure to another test pump in a closed loop test with flow control valves, hitting several points...

    Calculating NPSHa

Hello all, We recently installed a high volume (3000 GPM, water) closed flow loop to test multi-staged centrifugal pumps which includes a booster pump being fed by a tank. We are using a Labview program to plot the measured performance curve against the catalog curve for the multi-staged pump...

Concrete pile sizing for 25-ton overhead crane

Hi, I am working on a project to install a 25-ton overhead crane with free-standing columns spaced @ 25 feet apart. The column sizes were specified by the crane manufacturer's application engineer. However they will not be liable for the sizing of the concrete piles for the columns, arggg! I...

    Reaction moment/Free body moment question

See attached .jpg's. I have a part with a fixed constraint on the cylindrical face and applying a normal force of 5 lbf. on the extreme edge of the handle (see setup). The handle is 8 inches from the edge to the center of cylinder, therefore inducing a 40 in-lb torque around the axis. When I...
