about a year ago I had a thread asking about why the ASME committee in the 2009 B16.34 revision moved A351 CF3 and A351 CF3M to a different table that had much lower ratings than A351 CF8 and CF8M when aside from the carbon content the materials were identical.
Well today a got an supplement...
For the first Time I have a customer insisting they need a valve with API trim 7.
My question is what grade and how do you Heat treat a 13%Cr material to get it to a 750Hb hardness?
I have some procedures to get 420 in the 500 Hb range but nothing close to 750Hb
Tried this on The ASME board with no reaction thought I'd give this board a shot.
Did anybody attend any of the meetings?
I'm just wondering why the cast grade of 316L (A351 CF3M) and 304L (A351 CF3) moved tables and now have rated pressures significantly lower than 316 (A351 CF8M) and 304...

Both materials have identical physical property requirements. The only...
Looking at ASME Section II Table 1A it only has allowable stresses for A182 F6a for Class 1 and 2. Can anybody point me to an allowable stress vs Temperature table for the Class 4 condition?
I need the allowable stress at 1070°F
I have a page out of a late 60s early 70s Crane TP 410 that lists the L/D values for various types of valves.
However by 1976 these values changed. But I've never seen any justification or explanation of the changes. Does anybody know the history of these changes?
Here are some examples of...
