I have an ancient part in our system that needs to be produced.
On the dwg, it says, "Steam Homo Draw at 650F, dip in oil".
The material is 1144 steel.
My limited Google search says this process to be
some sort of proprietary process for corrosion protection...like passivation?
Anyway..what...
Does any know of a good website that defines all the terminology used in metal stamping fabrication??
One with with a lot pictures would be preferred.
Or recommend a good book?

Does anyone have a good website where I can look up
light bulb specs...
THings like dimensions mostly...I'm there are standards out there for the bases, bulbs, lengths etc...
Thanks....Ruso
I'm using Allegro A120x hall effect switches...one of the specs is something called Max Reverse Output Voltage( In this case it's -0.5V.
What does that mean and how do I not exceed it. I"m more mechanical so thus the question.
Thanks....
Hope someone can tell me what to do. How do you hook up a wye or delta wound coil to a surge tester/??? I know how to hipot the coil. Do you do a combination 2 wires at a time? Do 2 wires on one tester lead and the remaing one on the other?? Any help would be good. Thanks...

Can anyone tell what the equation/s would be to find out how much the outside and inside diameter of a tube or ring expands?? I just had a bearing fall out of my housing cause heat expanded the housing faster than the bearing.
Thanks...Ruso
Can anyone tell me what a testing radius is for a spur gear??? And how do I calculate that?? What affects it? I know that pitch radius is equal to testing radius in an unmodified gear.
Any website that I can go to calculate over wire dims as well?????
We make DC motors where we use spherical bronze bearings on both ends with an impregnated felt for extra lube and a brass retainer pressed against the bearing to hold every thing.
Trouble is...during shipment, they lock up and we have to ask the customer to use a hammer to tap them back into...
Can anyone help me find out what the tolerances are on a class h10 shaft are ??

Can't find it in my machinery handbook.

Is there a good book out there that can teach someone how to read, understand and measure geometric tolerancing???
I'm taking a class for CMM training but have unfortunenately, am not versed in the GD and T art.
Any help would be appreciated...Thanks..
Anyone know of a good book to use to teach oneself how to use Geometric dimensions and tolerancing?? I mean both on how to read a print with it, dimension a part and to show why you should care, and how to inspect a part once it's completed???
We don't use it at my company too much, but we...
What's an inductive load? Why should I care? What about impedance load?? Got a job to spec a variable transformer, but I"m all of a Mechanical engineer. I'm dealing with 115V to be transformed up(135V) and down (24v). Thanks..
I've tried stacking 2 V7 style switches atop one another from Microswitch, using cams to activate them. However over time, due to the cam hitting the plunger on the switches, they move , especially the top one due to cantilever effect, and my timing gets thrown off.
I was wondering if anyone...
I'm trying to find out what "Idle watts" on a motor name plate means. Does it mean watts of the motor under no load, or watts of the motor in a locked (stalled) condition???
