DIN 5480 Root and Tip diameter tolerances

I am working on a mating part to a customers product. They are using a male DIN 5480 spline that we have to interface to. What I have to reference is a competitor's drawing that calls out the hub spline as an N50x0.8x30x60xH9. We purchased the current (2006) version of parts 1 and 2 that seem to...

    ANSI B92.1-1996 Cancelled?

I went to ili-info to buy the B92.1-96 and it is listed as cancelled and has no information on what superceded it. Anyone have any info on why this is? Is there something else that would be better to design to? My gear vendor recommended designing to this and specificaly not to design to B92.2M...

    Interpreting Mechanica Results

I've generated a reaction force graph from an analysis and I'm not really sure how to interperet the results. The graph shows distance along the curve on the X axis and Force/length on the Y axis. Is this showing me a distributed load profile where the total load is area under the curve? Thanks...

Beam Section Dimensions as Design Parameters

I'm using Pro/Mech Wildfire 2.0 build M150 in integrated mode and I'm trying to run a design study to optimize a dimension in the section of an idealized beam. When I go to the design paramter creation dialog box I get the option to create a parameter based on a section dimension but the...

    Small Hypoid Gears

I have an application that is currently using spiroid gears and I am looking into replacing these with hypoid gears to gain some efficiency. I need the pitch diameter of the ring gear to be approx. 1.5" so it will fit in the assembly. Is there a company producing standard hypoids in this size...

    Thermal Analysis Giving Unexpected Results

I'm using Pro/Mechanica in integrated mode in Wildfire 2 and trying to get a handle on using thermal. I created an Al plate that is 100mm square and 10mm thick. I put a 30 watt heat load on one of th large faces and a 2W/m^2-K convective constraint on the opposite face with a bulk temp of 21C...

    Mathematical battery model

I'm currently heading up the battery selection for a new product and have been tasked with developing a mathematical model of of battery that will have testable parameters and power draw as inputs and state of charge as an output. Our goal is to test the manufacturer's claims and create a...

Showing CG of an assembly in a Drawing

I want to display the center of gravity location of an assembly on a drawing and have that location move as dimensions are changed in the assembly. I have placed a assmebly datum point at the CG using the mass prop parameters so the datum point is always at the CG. Is there a way to have a real...

    Pro-E to Ug via Step

I posted this to the UG forum but is doesn't seem to be very active so maybe some one here can help I created a pretty complex part in Pro/E 2001 and exported it to Step. When we went to import the file into UG V 17 thwe converter ran with no errors but the part did not appear. Thanks Dave

    Step File import

Me and my co-worker are trying to import a complex part made in Pro/Engineer into Unigraphics V17 via a Step file format. The conversion process runs without any errors but after the dialog box closes there is no sign of the imported part. Has anyone experienced this problem. David

    Standard Holes

I was wondering if there is a way to expand the standard hole library. I recently created a part and wanted to add an NPT tapped hole but found no way of doing it. Thanks, David

Chain Drive Simulation in Mechnica Motion

I am attempting to model two gears connect by a chain. Is thgere a good way to do this Mechanica 2001 Thanks, Dave
