thread367-175504
I have just read the old & closed thread (see reference) regarding casting a Wrought Aluminium Alloy (7075). Indeed it can be cast, but with the direct squeezecasting process. This is what we have been doing for many years. All of the Aluminium wheels on the British Army Warrior...
I have been helped enourmously from previous thread based around this problem.
Basically, I have moved from a pan head taptite to a C'sk taptite to bolt a steel member to an Aluminium casting ( blind hole). I have a critical customer complaint now because the only "off the shelf" C'sk tatptite...
I am being challenged by our customer that where I have used C'sk taptite screws to bolt a steel ring on to an Aluminium casting will be more prone to vibration loosening problems than a previous similar joint bolted by pan head taptites.
Could any one support or reject this claim
Many thanks
Attached is a drawing showing a metal ring to be fastened to an aluminium casting. I have put a pilot hole in the aluminium casting, but this does neet to be there. I need an efficient way of fastening the steel ring. Can a drive rivet be used in this situation?
Thanks
Clive
Just wanted to know what are the considerations in changing from a regular head bolt to a C'sk head bolt in terms of the stress it can withstand & hence induced load. I am having to consider a C'sk due to reduced head height, and are using the same thread ( M8).
Thanks
