Can anyone tell me the correct way to shoot a 2" pipe weld using an ir-192 source to Asme V. Does the IQI need to be source side, and thus the standoff distance need to be very long, or can the IQI be film side, the standoff shorter, and only the nearest wall to the film interpretated.
A plant owner user wants to use welding procedures of the original subcontracted piping fabrication company as its own, for maintenance welding. This is for welding to ASME B31.3, and ASME IX, for pressure classes up to 2500#.
Is this allowable? Is there anywhere in the codes which state this.
Does anyone know if a hot tap requires its own welding procedure. I.e does a mockup need to be made, and does it need to pass the ASME IX bend tests.
Or does a qualified welding procedure for the material being welded suffice (i.e a normal fabrication WPS)
