Can anyone please tell me at which point do you start measuring the "development length of a deformed bar"?
I mean most codes provide equations to calculate the develpment of deformed bars in tension and compression, but where do you start measuring it.
Is it possible or common to design a beam with the same depth as the slab it is supporting? If so, how can I justify the width of the beam given the fact the soffit of both slab and beam would be the same?
Comments would be appreciated.
Can anyone please explain to me what is the concept of "Strong Band" in reinforced/post tensioned concrete?
Is it possible to design a beam which has the same thickness as the slab it is supporting? What should the width of the beam be?
I have a RC/PT slab separated by an expansion joint. On one side of the slab, there are large point loads located along the span parallel to the joint. I want to transfer some of these point loads to the adjacent slab because my slab would be able to hold.
Is it possible to transfer these shear...
