Does anyone know of a manufacturer who offers a NEMA 4 hot water unit heater? I have only been able to find electric unit heaters with a NEMA 4 rating. It seems very odd to me that I can find an electric unit heater that is NEMA 4 but not a hydronic one. Thanks for your help.
So I just read the whole "co-worker not claiming all hours worked" thread that included an interesting discussion of engineering fees, or the lack thereof. I would like to get a thread going that is focused solely on this topic.
I have seen the commoditization of engineering services accelerate...
Does anyone know where to find an extra large paint booth. I am looking for something 100'Lx60'Wx40'H. Based on my research so far, this dramatically exceeds anything that is readily available as a packaged unit. Is a built-up unit the only option here?
Does anyone know much about press fit copper pipe used in domestic water, hydronic, and gas applications? One example is ProPress. I have seen this stuff and, frankly, I am not impressed. I don't really trust it to hold up over an extended time (30+ yrs). To my knowledge, there is nowhere that...
I would like to know what you guys would expect to see if you pulled the burner out of a boiler or furnace that had been operating on low gas pressure over an extended period of time. Would it be damaged in any way?
I do not want to sway opinions, so I'd like to get a few responses before I...
Does anyone know of a spring loaded (or other type) valve that will permit flow at a low pressure and then shut off when the pressure increases? I know this sounds counter-intuitive, but here is my basic problem:
I have a pipe that will be exposed to freezing, but I cannot heat trace it. I am...
I am performing a life cycle cost comparison for various heating mediums for a building and have hit a small snag. The facility has an existing district steam system, but I am having trouble getting the information I need to calculate the real cost of steam.
Does anyone have a reasonable way...
has anyone ever had to jerry-rig a 3-way valve to do 2-way operation? it seems to me that one would just need to disconnect the bypass leg and cap the open pipe connections. is it really any more complicated than that?
These days, everyone claims to have a custom air handler. Even Trane, York, and Carrier are calling some of their stuff custom. Then there is the whole pack of guys with sort-of customizable, pre-engineered equipment (aka: Engineered Air, Munters) that call their units totally custom. How is one...
Considering how most of the well know domestic manufacturers of high quality valves have been bought out by conglomerates, how is one to know who is making the top-of-the-line products these days? I get a myriad of feedback from O&M personnel and distributors, but rarely get the opportunity to...
