Hi,
I have an internal open plantwell with a 100mm pipe disappearing through a wall at floor level (fall unknown!). This pipe i think then bends vertically down and drops down a riser.
Can anyone advise on the calculation required to work out how much water this pipe will remove?
Thanks

Hi,
In the UK, rainfall is calculated over a 2 minute storm duration period. The location of the project, plus the building use determines the specific rainfall rate. (say 200mm/hr intensity)
Say I have a downpipe discharging approx 70 litres per second. If I was to size an underground pipe to...
Hi,
Im looking for advice;
Can you weld stainless steel rainwater outlets into a galvanised mild steel gutter?
when googling this question i get varied responses from plain 'no' to 'yes but with a special flux'
Thanks

Hi,
Has anyone come across what effect discharging a full bore pipe into an already full (of rainwater) inspection chamber has on the discharge rate.
Im assuming it depends on the size of the inspection chamber, how deep the pipe is submerged and what the head of water is driving the pipe.
Any...
Hi Guys,
I dont know if anyone has come across this before but im looking for some water test data on HDPE pipe. My queries are at what stage is HDPE pipe wall affected by the velocity of the water - test data stating something like HDPE pipe at xxx dia has been tested to xxx metres per second...
Hi,
I have been informed by the bracket supplier of a safe load figure of 72.12 kg/mm sq for 8mm threaded rod.
I only know my pipe weights in kg / metre.
How do i calculate if the 72.12 kg/mm sq is of sufficient strength to hang the pipe. Is it simply 72.12 x the cross section of 8mm?
Thanks
Lee
Hi,
I have a bank of 3 vertical pipes fixed with unistrut to sheeting rails at 2 metre centres. The client has asked for the loading of these pipes which I assume is at each sheeting rail.
Whats the first step in calculating the loads, its been 10 years since i did this at college. I know the...
Hi,
We have a project where we are using a storage tank sized at 1.3m H x 2m L x 3m W.
We are discharging 47.7 l/s into this tank over a 2 minute period ie 47.7 l/s x 120 seconds = 5724 l/s.
What we're trying to work out is the required size of a hole in the bottom of the tank to discharge only...
Hi,
I am trying to produce a spreadsheet which calculates the point at which pipe cavitates based on the velocity in a siphonic system. As part of this i have produced the attached excel spreadsheet. A couple of things i have learned since i produced it is
1) the vapour pressure should be in...
