Our vendor is planning to use liquid Nitrogen (in lieu of water) as the cooling method for the solution annealing of ASTM A240-304 Stainless steel cold formed head (2 heads). The head thicknesses are 49mm and 85mm.
Can we use liquid nitrogen as the cooling media?
We use SA193-B7M/SA194-2HM for Bolts and Nuts in H2S service. How about amine or caustic service. Can we use SA193-B7/SA194-2H for amine or caustic service?
Thanks
We are designing a caustic tower. The caustic solution has ~10% NaOH, ~10%Na2S, ~5% Na2CO3, ~50ppmw Cl, and ~20ppmW NaClO3. It also has about 4% (CH3SNa + CH3SH). The design temperature is 190DegC.
We are trying to use Ni alloy for this tower. But we still worry about the effects of Chlorides...

guys, I need your suggestion on the materials selection for compressor caseing.
At the begining of the design, the minimum operating temperature is -2C and MDMT is -25C. The vendor proposed SA516-55 for the compressor casing.
Now, the minimum operating temperature of the compressor is -28C...
I have fresh caustic feed pump (metering pump). It has 32% caustic. Can I use Carbon steel for it.
The design temperature 65C. If carbon steel selected, it should be PWHT. right?
Thanks.
I have a question on the trays materials selection for a tower. The minimum design Temperature of the tower is -101C. 304SS was selected for the construction of the shell and heads of the tower. Can I use 410SS for the trays materials, if only temperature is taken into account? What is the...
