    hole patterns as datums

    I realize ASME Y14.5-1994 allows us to use hole patterns as datums. I am looking for opinions on it's usefullness. Situations when it would be considered best practise and situations in which it would be best to avoid. Pros and Cons. Thanks

    Profile surface point indicators

    Hello, I am wondering if anyone can help with a question I have regarding profile of a surface. Is there a rule of thumb as to when point indicators should or should not be used. I can not find a definitive answer in the standard (Y14.5M-1994).

    Fixed Fastener Formula

    When using the fixed fastener formula you divide the difference between the MMC of the clearance hole by the MMC of the fastener by two. If another component is introduced into the assembly is it necessary to divide the difference by 3?
