Hi all,
Most of my life I dealt with municipal side with pressures up 50 200-300 psi, now I have a task to specify valves for the pump/piping system (water) for the pressures in excess of 1,300 psi. Can you please point me to right direction rgarding the following issues:
1.Isolation valves...
Got a challenge. Need to lift approximately 700 gpm of water approximately 1,300 feet. Looking at different options, intermediate booster pumps, etc.., but I am curios if anyone has experience in lifting water at such a high pressure. Any tips on pumps, piping, etc.
Can anyyone share tips on installation of pumps outside in freezing conditions. We are looking at using vertical turbine pumps to be installed outside, pumping the water from the tank intermittently. I am worried about possible freezing water in the column or around the seal that would prevent...

I am moving approximately 5000 gpm of water (inside the plant) at 130 psi. Do we need additional restrain on piping (rather than regular flanges. We have surge relief system that activates on appearance of transient pressure.
Thanks for your input
Does anyone know of some sort of portable biological (secondary treatment) unit that could be used for a certain period of time (while the existing unit (trickling filter) is completly rehabilitated). The average flow is around 100,000 gpd.
Thanks in advance
I have a simple question. If a BHP is at certain level say 100 HP; and motor efficiency is say 93%; I always assumed that the motor rating should take in account the motor efficiency: in this case 100/0.93 = 107.5 HP. If the motor is rated: say 105 HP (the numbers are just for an example) does...

Need to connect new stainless steel piping with existing ductile iron outside application. Both sides with plain end. The piping is for compressed air, low pressure. Should we weld the flanges or use some type of uniflange, should we worry about disimilarity of material. Do we need a special...
I am designing a baffle wall inside a concrete aeration tank. The baffle is to create a separate anoxic zone for the denitrification. Any suggestions regarding the material, construction and type of flow (over or under the wall)would be appreciated. Thank you
In your experience, is double cement mortar lining with asphaltic coating adequate for sewer force main or would it be prefered some sort of epoxy liner/coating?
thanks
In your opinion is 3 ft/s for an extended periods of time in a force main "good enough" velocity to prevent settling of sewage with an average solids content of about 120 mg/l?
I am interested in hearing your experience in using wall pipes versus using wall sleeves for penetration of D.I. pipes through new construction. Pro and contra for each method. Thank you all!
I am trying to figure out the reasons behind apparant cavitation and failed impeller on double suction split case centrifugal pumps. NPSH available is way higher than requested. Pumps are fed from a common 48" suction manifold. The only reason for the cavitation I can come up with appears to...
