We are in the process of replacing our belt drive with a direct drive on a 30000cfm centrifugal fan. The existing fan/motor base is mounted on a number of springs (design would be circa 1970).
Is it still common practice to mount these type of systems on springs, vs rigidly mounting them to...
I'm looking for a 1 1/2" threaded valve with a spring return electric linear actuator. Honeywell makes one (ML7425), but the open time is 90 seconds and that is too long for my requirements.
Does anyone know of other makers of small electric actuated valves?
I'm at a hydroelectric plant in Canada. We typically send our PRV's off to be tested and recalibrated if required.
What training would be required for my mechanics so that they could test and recalibrate the PRV's themselves?
Thanks!
I have a 300psi dry air line that needs to run under a crushed gravel roadway in a switchyard. The current plan is to use 1" Sched 40 SS. I'm trying to decide if the pipe needs to be protected from the forces of a truck driving over top, or whether laying it 1' underground will be enough...
If I have to make a flange with unique dimensions (ie. we are matching a russian bolt pattern), is my only option to get a blank flange and machine it? I know this is probably a dumb question, but are there any other materials that come in round carbon steel bars that can be used? (I see B16.5...
I am an EIT wanting to take an introduction to the practical use of the ASME codes (particularily Pressure Vessel codes). Can anyone recommend any good short course providers in Western Canada? (ie 3-7 days)
ANSI too if you know of any (flange design etc..)
I have a 600psi 8" hydraulic line that is isolated using a single block and bleed. There are concerns that the existing 1/2" bleed line is too small. Are there standards that dictate the minimum bleed line size?
I am looking to install a newco 8" class 300 gate valve operating as an isolation point on a 570psi hydraulic system. Is there a way to determine what the required opening torque at full differential pressure will be?
Basically, how do I know if the manual actuator will be suitable in...
I'm looking for the material properties of a russian material: roct 4543-61 used to make a M72 stud.
Does anyone know either the properties or the North American equivalent to this material?
Thanks
Christine.
I have an 8" globe valve mounted horizontally on a 300psi hydraulic line. Even after overhauling the valve, it still passes. Could the horizontal orientation of the valve be part of the problem? Are some valves better than others in certain orientations?
Thanks!
I have a 24" Centrifugal Fan currently operating at 1985 RPM. I would like to increase the RPM in the future (change from belt driven to direct drive). How do I determine what the RPM limit on the fan is? Is there one? I am not able to find a fan curve.
More specific details below:
24...
How is the pipe schedule and the material related. If I specify 2 1/2" schedule 40 carbon steel pipe - do I still have to specify the material? Or is saying 2 1/2" ASME SA-106 sched 40 pipe redundant?
API 510 says that an external inspection may be acceptable when size, configuration or lack of access makes vessel entry for internal inspection physically impossible.
This may be a silly question, but having never seen an internal inspection, how much access is required? Does someone...
I have a 500psi hydraulic oil line entering a governor system at a hydro-electric plant. Would changes to any part of this line be under the juristiction of ASME B31.1 Power Piping? I'm new to pressure piping and reading the scope of B31.1, it seems that it was written exlusively for boiler...
