When your actual material has Dual Certification, such as SA-240 304/SA-240 /304L, how do you decide whether to select allowable stress in Section II-D for SA-240 304 or SA-240 304L?
Dual certification is coming up more and more since in reality our inventory consists of the same material under...
Are there any abrasion resistant carbon steels such as AR235 that are considered 'code grade' and would be listed in ASME Section II D? I'm not sure what designation to look for in II D. Customer is wanting the cone of the pressure vessel to be made out of abrasion resistant steel.
I saw an...
Have a pressure vessel to be designed per ASME Section VIII Divison 1 along with explosion containment. I see Nonmandatory Appendix H Guidance to Accommodate Loadings produced by Deflagration and it's reference to NFPA 69 chapter 5. Looks like NFPA 69 2008 Edition would be chapter 13. Appears...
Does anyone know of some comparison that would give an idea of what EN 13445 material is equivalent to an ASME Section II-D material? Such as the EN 13445 equivalent for SA-516 70 or SA-240 304.
Thanks for the help,
Dale
Have a new person moving into the QC Manager position for our in-house Section VIII Div 1 code shop. The person has no experience in this area. What tools, classes or other learning methods are available for him? Anyone know of some good sources? Is there something that would help define...
Hello,
Is there a way to print to a file instead of printing directly to a printer?
Probably sounds like a dumb question but I'm trying to answer a question for someone in a separate location & I don't have access to/or use Inventor.
Thanks,
Hi,
Does anyone know what Class II or Class III would refer to when listed after the code such as the following?
ASME Section VIII Div 1 Class II
ASME Section VIII Div 1 Class III
Could it be an old method from the UK?
Thanks,
Customer has asked about designing an item per B31.3 instead of Section VIII Div 1. Is the following a pressure vessel or piping? Here's a description: approximately 3 foot length of 8" or 12" SC 10 pipe with an elliptical head on each end, a half coupling in the center of each head & a series...
Normally we built pressure vessels per job. If the same vessel is required for another customer, we create new drawings, calcs and so forth even though it may be identical to an earlier vessel. Now we have a situation where we want to build a quantity of a particular pressure vessel for stock...
I'm trying to figure out how to re-format our nameplate to meet the 2007 Section VIII Div 1 UG-119. I don't want to increase the size of our nameplate. Has anyone had experience with how precisely the format/wording has to match figure UG-118? Having Pressure & Temperature spelled out along with...
The 2007 Section VIII Div 1 UG-46(g)(1) calls out 12" x 16" as minimum size for manhole. Does anyone know when this changed from 11" x 15" to 12" x 16"? I haven't been able to locate our copy of 2004 to see what size it listed.
Thanks,
