Does anyone know a Field Service Company that is capable of testing Generator electrical components - CTs PTs Wattmeters, etc - on site?
Did some basic Google searches - surprisingly not very fruitful...
I've seen electrical discharges cause problems in ball/roller bearings, and I've seen damaged turbine babbitt bearings from electrical discharge, and I understand how this can happen.
Is magnetism any way associated with this phenomena?
What is the failure mode when the bearing housing is...
Has anyone seen this? Have you seen a case where the shaft gets scored/phonographed, but the sleeve bearing has no damage?
Side info:
Oil sample clean - as far as I'm told.
I'm told the bearing was not replaced.
Only 3 year old turbine.
Scoring in the non-feed area of the pressure dam bearing.
