Hi,
In essence, I'm simulating a plate which is supported by bars that run along the plate's edges. A pressure is applied on the plate's surface and the system is exposed to a gravitational field.
I run the simulation and then look at the stresses in the plate's normal direction on the...
Hi,
My solution almost converged on the 40th iteration, things were steadily looking better, then Ansys aborted due to the large number of iterations. How do I increase the number of allowed iterations?

Hi,
I added a rought surface constrain in WB, and now the solution seems to take forever. It's currently processing the 19th iteration and the solution has not been converging steadily. It seems like it converges for a few iterations, then makes one big diverging step and so the cycle goes...
Hi,
I'm working on an element model which I have transfered from WB to Classic. The model is an assembly and Ansys shows the different parts in different colors. What is the easiest way to select one of these parts? Since Ansys gives them different colors, it seems reasonable to think that...
Hi,
I find that, in some areas, the stresses are much higher in the nodes than in between the nodes. It's safer to go with the higher values, but is is also more accurate? Can I adjust the interpolation of the stresses to make the values flow more smoothelly between the nodes? I have a...
Hi,
I have applied a varying pressure on my structure. I would like to illustrate the variations in the pressure by colors. How do I do that? Currently the pressure is just displayed in red.

Hi,
When I ask Ansys to excecute the calculation it tells me that there is a warning, and asks me if I still want to run the simulation. Where can I read what this warning says?
Pingen
Hi,
A structure is stress free at the homogenious temperature t1. How do I calculate the stresses in the structure when the homogenious temperature has changed to t2?

Hi,
How large reaction force errors should one tolerate. Is it the ratio between the actual force and the force calculated by the fea that matters, or is it the absolute difference?
Pingen
Hi,
I'm looking at two cylinders, one that runs concentrically inside the other. When I apply a load to the structure, the cylinders move relative each other in their common radial direction (perhaps "radial plane" is a more descriptive way to put it..). Thus, the cylinder's relative...
Hi,
In WB.
I get the following error message:
"At least one contact pair has no elements in it. This may be due to mesh based defeaturing of the geometry. Set the variable "contactAllowEmpty" to 1 in order to allow the solution to proceed with an ANSYS warning which can be used to identify...
Hi,
I'm modifying a copy of an assembly. The copy is located on my c drive and the original on a cd. I would like to have both these assemblies open at the same time, but I have noticed that Pro E links the two assemblies together eventhough they should be completelly indepentend. The...
Hi,
In WB. My model containts partially overlapping parts. Sometimes the overlapping (shared) volumes are substantial. Does this cause problems with the meshing or other aspects of the simulation?
Pingen
Hi,
When I suppress parts and sub assemblies in one of my sub assemblies I get a warning saying that the suppression is temporary. When I resume one of the suppressed components that generated this type of warning it causes the other suppressed components to resume. This is a pain.
How can I...
