I know you can insert a surface parameter and find the pressure on a surface at the end of a time-dependent problem. But what I want is to find the pressure integrated over a range of times. Is there a way?
Has anyone heard if Floworks will become multithreaded? Right now you can have it run one configuration per CPU, but you cannot take one configuration and run it on multiple CPUs. Fluent can do that and Photoshop, and video editing software -- and all sorts of higher-end programs now days. With...
There is one thing that is baffling me.
When I do a sketch and then exit the Sketcher and then select 'pad,' sometimes the pad does not form. The sketch
disappears, and the 'pad definition' box has "NO SELECTION' under the profile-surface selection. If I go to try to reselect the sketch, it...
In Floworks, you can save computation time by marking the domain as symmetric about a plane. Ok, fine.
How do you display the results to recreate both sides of the plane? It seems like there is no setting to mirror the results for pretty charts.
I have two areas of confusion.
1. How come there are two interfaces in the program to set refinement? One is under initial-mesh, and you uncheck automatic and then can go in and set refinement levels. The other is under computation control and you can turn refinement on/off and also set...
When I click on a surface for an internal calculation, and set up a gas pressure -- I get an error that says 'error: face is not lying on a boundary between solid and fluid region.'
I seem to have a closed system with lids, so I am very confused. Any idea what could be wrong? This is all within...
I have a CS degree and have been programming in C/unix since 1986. I have never seen anyone use the word 'codes' until I started playing with CFD. Why do they use that term? How is a 'code' different from a 'program?' Is it a Fortran term from the 60s? (I never did Fortran).
How do I convert from SW to CGNS, FIDAP, IDEAS, NASTRAN, PATRRAN, or Hypermesh?
I need to get a solidworks assembly into one of those formats. Can solidworks save as them? If not, is there a free converter?
What are some meshers which can work with fluent? I need to try a few and I am not sure which will work and not only expert to fluent but also be able to set up zones. Windows and Linux platforms. Thanks.
Let's say that a computation has finished. Can I go back and click on a surface, and have it spit out the max and average pressure that was found on that surface? How?
If you have Floworks saving periodically (every so many iterations, or every time-step), can you stop the calculation, and then reboot the machine, and then restart it later without losing all of the work?
I am doing a computation that will take about 8 days, and I might need to reboot before...
If I had a chamber with a gas inlet and a gas outlet, and there was a pressure difference between the inlet and outlet, such that the gas would flow through the chamber which started at atmospheric pressure and later reached a steady state -- I want to see the gas flow as it first rushes into...
I want to model the flow of a rifle discharging.
I have some internal ballistics software which tells me that the particular rifle would output 9,000psi. I also know that the powder burns for 0.2 seconds. And I know that powder burns at 3300 degrees F.
I want to see what happens when I fire...
Has anyone noticed that the integration of Photoworks into Solidworks is not quite there?
It has that 'forced in' feel. The have two sets of materials, one for Solidworks and one for Photoworks. This is the largest problem. Then they have those checkboxes 'use photoworks materials in solidworks...
