The ASME SA 705 code state's that :
C% content in 17-4Ph Stainless Steels is 0.070 %
Why we can not go above 0.070 ?
Is it related to intergranular corrosion ?
Is it related to retained austenite ?
Is it related to hot working ?
Is it related to Impact Charpy Toughness ?
Any Help
Thanks
May be a basic question but an internal auditor ask us a question: Hardness testing Is it a NDT Test?
I really don't have the good answer
For rough forgings parts I guess it's NDT TEST, for machined parts I guess NO
Any help?
Thanks
Hi Guys
I ma looking for the maximum tool steels admitted in Commercial Hot Tool steels grades like H11 & H13
A supplier n°1 sends us a Quotation for H11 hot work Steel with 0.024 %of phosphorus.
A second supplier sends us a quotation with 0.018 % phosphorus but with higher price
The...
Hi everybody
I have an ingot (316L) with a high amount of lead "19 ppm"
What is the impact of the amount of lead on:
The hot working?
Mechanical properties?
Corrosion resistance?
I don't read any thing any in internationals Standard !
What is the maximum amount permitted in stainless...
I am looking for a specification relating to the freckles in the macrostructure inspection of steel ingots for forging and rolling parts for die molds.
What is acceptable an what is not acceptable for the freckles : size, shape, ….
Any Help
I have a metallurgical problem : when I take different parts from a steel bloc i don't found correlation between hardness (HB) and ultimate tensile strength (UTS)
How can I explain this ?
In many manufacturing specification we can found impositions abour méchanical properties on steel parts near the surface, mid-thickness end centre.
My question what is teh depth of the "near surface" ?
is there any specification with deal with the depth of the "near surface" location.
Hi everybody
What is the impact of the cooper content on the AISI H13 steel ? I think the more cooper we have the less the impact toughness will have.
Any data or study on this?
Thanks in advance
The ASME A702 said that the carbon content in the 15-5 PH steel is 0.07 Max.
My question is what is the effect of the carbon content on the mechanical properties when the carbon move from 0.03 % to 0.07 %
Thanks all
Any links to paper are welcome
I try to ajust the vanadium in A Cr-Mo-V special grade
My question is what is the effect of the vanadium on the Cr-Mo-V steels when the vanadium change from 0 to 0.20 %
Thanks
Hi guys
We use in our plant an Equoptip hardeness tester
http://www.hoskin.qc.ca/specpage.php?dep=Instrumentation&produitID=2534
Can anyone tell us if this tester is recognized par the metallurgical standards ASTM, ASME,API,DIN,AFNOR.....
Thanks
I would to know what is the effect of phosphorus on the yield strength at elevated temperature (300°C) in an austenitic stainless steels ?
Thanks in advance
I have read somewhere that some steelmakers introduce nitrogen in the steel molten and after the vacuum refining process and degassing the nitrogen will form bubbles. The degassing of these bubbles take with them some dissolved hydrogen
1- Is that True?
2 -Anyone have some informations about...
Hi,
What is the effect of the alloying elements on the thickness of the scale after the heat treatment?
Can we build several families of steels regarding their scale thickness after heat treatment?
Thanks in advance
Hi
Can anybody can show me a good link for the impact toughness values to the 316L grade at low temperatures (-20,-30,-40,..... up to -80°C)
Thanks in advance
