Hello, I would like to implement an MOV on the input of a PLC. Can anyone provide me with links to good information on how to specify one? I want to protect the PLC from line voltage (120vac) transients.
thanks
I've seen quite a few topics on SS here, but my question goes unanswered....I have an ABB softstarter with a max motor current rating of 6.1A, and I need to control a motor at 480v with an FLA of 2.8A. I seem to remember being told that the circuit in the softstarter has a current 'window' in...
24VDC 1/2hp 60FLA Motor roughly 20s duty cycle
Having hard time finding a DC contactor(need reversing, but non will be ok for now).
If I use 2 SPDT contactors in parrallel (in order to reverse the motor), one passing the '+' and the other '-', would I be ok with a 400A NO / 200A NC inrush...
I need to come up with a battery backup charging system using a solar panel. The batteries will be running a 1.3HP DC motor with an FLA of about 60 amps. The battery will be a couple of car batteries in series.
Using the 20% ROT, I figure I need around a 300W charger. However, most solar...
on a (for example) 2HP 3phase 208-230/460v motor data sheet, it has 'none' listed under the SFA, would it be because they didn't test for it, or it's the same as the FLA? I can't imagine why they wouldn't list it. I couldn't get an acceptable answer out of the reps I deal with, and would...
I want to change direction on a 3ph motor using a soft starter....I would like to make the construction more simple and the cost lower by adding a relay between the motor and ss rather than adding 2 contactors before the ss. I do not have a lot of experience with soft starters, and I'm not...
In reading up on battery chargers, I see some have an inhibit property, and some do not. Apparently the ones that do "sink current" when input power is removed.
Is the current they are talking about the leakage input current or leakage output current or something else altogether?
What would...
I am going to rectify 24v to supply a 24VDC motor with an FLA of 57A. The startup current for the motor is around 120A I'm a little confused on how to calculate the inrush capability the rectifier would need to be able to handle.
The spec sheet I have on the diode module (Crydom M50 series)...
I have seen in here before "rules" of specifying a soft starter concerning voltage rating relationship between motor and starter, and now cannot find it.
I need to specify a soft starter and cannot remember if it needed to be rated higher than the motor or the same voltage...am I thinking of...
I've got a soft starter rated for 277/480 3PH 3A.
Will using it to start a 208v 3PH motor hurt it or cause it to act any differently?
Also, if I wanted to use it on a single phase motor, would it work since only 2 legs of the 3 phase are controlled anyways?
This is pre-design and obviously...
In AC 2006, (I no longer use...left company) there is a cool feature where the selection window is colored. Is it possible to incorporate that into AC 2004?
thanks
I have a 3 hp @ 208/230v 3P nameplate motor with a control circuit with various items in it.
For much of the control circuit, 120v is needed, so he (the previous eng.)was using one leg of the 3 phase to neutral. However, after some investigation, the control circuit is consuming nearly the...
In the world of detailed and not so detailed drawings mechanical and electrical, and whatever else, I'm told there is an industry 'standard' for using ALL CAPS. I hate this. If you read about readability and/or lettering, you will find that using all caps is not only annoying, but harder to...
I am unable to find what the b16 protection (short circuit?) standard (or whatever it is) is....I keep seeing it referred to, and it may be a foreign standard, europpean most likely...any clues?
I am unable to find the parameter in AC2004 that allows you to turn OFF the autostack within the multiline command....I can do it manually, but it's very tedious.
I want to be able to provide 24vac to a circuit from a 208/220/230/240 input (either/or). I cannot find a non-custom transformer that will accept all these inputs...I know I can get away using say the one spec'd for 240, but my 24v becomes 21v. Conversely, a 208v rating will get me ~28v...I've...
When measuring one leg of a 3 phase (coming out of a phase adder, fyi) with a clamp meter (FLUKE 336) there should be no noticable effect on the current or voltage whatsoever, correct?
If I have 208/230 3phase coming into a control ciruit to run a 3 HP motor, and am pulling a leg to use as a 120v supply (with the neutral) for control circuitry, a) will this unbalance the load to an unacceptable level b) if so how can I "rebalance" it?
I've got a simple control box for a gate arm, adn there's an alarm buzzer. It's a 24v standard issue black, maybe 2" diameter 100dB or so buzzer. Question is, why is there a 470mF cap across it?
