Flow through pipe at 40 psi

I need to determine the flow of water in gpm through a 12" section of 4" diameter schedule 40 steel pipe under 40 psi of constant pressure. Temperature and elevation out of the equation. Is an answer possible with such limited information or is this question so "kindergarten" that I should be...

    Darcy weinbach calc procedure

Does anyone use the Hydracad stand alone calculation program? If so can you tell me the procedure. The program doesn't differentiate between the anti-freeze portion of the system and the non anti-freeze portion. Thanks Russell Rewis

    Home Depot System Design

Has anyone had any experience with the design of a sprinkler system in a Home Depot? Specifically the wood racks area. NFPA13 2007 shys away from any suggestions. Annex C leaves one to believe that water systems, even with in-rack sprinklers, cannot control a fire. Thanks, rrewis

    Air velosity

This is probably a "duh" question, but I can't focus on it. I am pushing 24,000 cubic feet of air through a 48" diameter duct. Will someone please give me the formula for estimating the speed in miles per hour? Air to duct friction loss does not have to be considered because it is not neccesary...

    Grain direction of 7075-T6

I have searched the archives but couldn't find what I need, so I would like to ask the group. I know nothing about metals. I have a piece of .080 inch 7075-T6 aluminum plate that has been polished. I need to know how to tell which way the grain runs. The reason is that I have been told to never...

    Sprinklers near pitched roof peak

Hello, this is my first post so please bear with me. My question is concerning NFPA13 2002 edition section 8.6.4.1.4.2. In it is stated that a sprinkler under a roof with a roof pitch exceeding 4/12 shall be positioned within 12" horizontally of the peak. The figure 8.6.4.1.4 details the...
