Hello again
Once more I need some technical help from the experts this time on a header system that I am looking at building.
I have a fairly old straight six engine with an aluminum cylinder head that comes with two cast iron manifolds. I want to replace this with a stainless header system...
Hope you experts can help me once more with the project I am working on.
I am installing an independant front suspension based on the Mustang II. This is an aftermarket unit built for hotrods etc something like this one.

I have a basic question regarding the installation of a manual or power steering rack on a car I am building. What are the basic parameters used to establish the installation of a power rack, obviously weight on the front wheels would be one but at what weight would a power rack be necessary...
I thought this was a simple enough question when I first asked it but turns out I am still not sure of the answer.
Why do some carbed manifolds have coolant running through them and some don't?
Even on the same engine there can be different designs where sometimes coolant flows and sometimes...
HI
On a fibreglass (epoxy) body with a stainless fuel tank are there any issues regarding buildup of static that I should be aware of? The tank will be connected to the stainless filler with non-conductive fuel hose.
I am not sure wether it is best to bond everything or leave some parts...
On a leaf spring/live axle suspension why is the distance shorter at the front of the spring - from axle to eye, than the rear? I understand it has something to do with axle wrap but what exactly does the shorter distance at the front do? Also what problems would/might occur if I reversed the...
Simple question for the tire experts,
I am trying to find out what driving characteristics to expect with radials on the back and bias-ply on the front of a 30's type roadster I am building.
I know this is not an ideal mix but believe this combination is ok for a street driven car (no racing)...
Hi
I am trying to wade through some hype on a product called foam-seal which some people are saying increases chassis stiffness by a huge amount. (i've heard claims of up too 300% in some cases!!)
The product is a 2 part polyurethane foam which is injected into the rails, expands, fills all...
I have a question for those who are in the composite auto industry.
Approx. how many gallons of resin does it take to make a car like a corvette and how does this compare to a replica like the cobra which is laid up by hand?
Also how much does cured resin weigh versus its uncured weight?
Thanks...
My question concerns that very useful property that unwaxed polyester resin has of not curing in air so you can get a good chemical bond. Is it just a coincidence of it's chemical composition or is it engineered in?
If it is manufactured that way on purpose why can't it be made to cure in air...
Hope someone can explain to a 'non auto engineer' the basics to this problem.
I was recently informed that occasionaly parallel springs on a rear axle are not always exactly parallel and have some angle in them due to mounting requirements on the rails (toe-in).
I always thought that the...
I am looking at ways to make a roadster chassis stiffer, I know it'sa common problem!. Chassis has not been built yet so I have no problems making adjustments. Here is as much relevant info I can think of.
Overall the car is similar to a 20s/30s Ford roadster. Two seater but wheelbase has been...
Why is mpg sometimes measured at 56.6mph? I seem to remember this speed was supposed to be the most economical but it can't be the same for all cars so how was it calculated?
thanks

I am looking for tech. info on the geometry of parallel leaf front suspension but have not been able to find anything in depth on the internet. Can anyone recommend a good book on the subject, (that is still in print!)?
Thanks for any help.
