While seaching for information on whether there are standards used by the electric motor industry for reversing the rotation of single phase fractional HP motors (eg: designated wire terminal numbers or color codes for the start and run windings wires.... which I think are in many (but not all)...

I have an older 1/2 HP, single phase, capacitor start motor with ball bearings on the rotor shaft. I don't know how old the motor is but when inspecting the bearings, they seem a bit shy of grease/lubrication.
I was wondering if there are any guidelines for adding/changing lubricant...
